Aspyr Media announces The Sims 2 for Mac Beta Test

Today I received the following information from a representative of Aspyr Media, and she asked me to share it with all of you. (And yes, I did confirm this - it is for real)

Aspyr is looking for some dedicated simulation fans to beta test the Mac version of The Sims 2 and associated utilities. For the test we need people who can devote a lot of time to in-depth gameplay and give us appropriately detailed feedback on the problems they find; and can tell us how to reproduce these problems effectively. To participate in the test you must be at least 18 years of age and sign and fax to us a non-disclosure agreement. The test will probably be starting in mid-February and extending into mid-May.

that we need to test with Macs that meet the test's minimum system
requirements, as we will likely need to adjust these before the game's release. If your computer does not meet these requirements, you are not eligible for the test.

Minimum configuration required to test The Sims 2:

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.3.4 or later
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 or later
CPU Speed: 1GHz or faster
Memory: 512 MB or higher
Hard Disk Space: 4.2GB free disk space
Video Card (ATI): RADEON 9000 or better
Video Card (nVIDIA): GeForce4 MX or better
Video Memory (VRAM): 32 MB or higher
Media Required: DVD Drive

To be considered for the test, please send an email with "The Sims 2 Beta Test" in the subject line to matt@aspyr.com with your full name, email address, and an attached system profile for the computer(s) you would be testing the game on. To get a system profile of your computer, select "About This Mac" from the Apple Menu, and select "More Info...". Once System Profiler launches, select "Save" and attach this file to your email message. Any applications that do not have a system profile attached will not be considered.

The individuals that we select for the test will be contacted within the next two to three weeks.
