I think we need a thread about new game cheats and tips. Feel free to post anything you find interesting or helpful.
I have one at the moment.

I was playing around on the game the other day and found a real easy way to get your sims body point up to the top.
First, put your sim in the pool. Pause that game and put the moveObjects on cheat on. Pick your sim up and put it in the house or on the groud(not back in the pool). You sim will swim in the ground. It is quite funny, but your sims body points will skyrocket. Your sim can never drown however, because if your sim needs to do something(e.g. use the bathroom, eat something, clean up dishes) it will get out of the groud(like getting out of a pool) and do what they need. Keep it up until your sim's body points reach the tops. Then pick your sim up and place it back in the pool. Your sim will automatically get out like nothing ever happened. Now your sim can do those awesome dives off the diving board!

Good idea, I put this on another thread earlier, but I like the idea of a cheats and tips thread.

How to have a house of only kids without parents or teens

In the sims one you could have a household of only kids. In the sims 2, the minute a parent isn't around, social services comes and takes the kids. There is a way around this and it takes very little work.

First build a family with one parent and as many kids as you wish. Kill the adult however you like. BUt this is the fast way: When you get on a lot build a small room around the adult and put a refig. and stove in the room. Have toaster pastries. After the adult puts the pastries in the stove, cancel the action and the stove with start smoking then catches on fire, eventually the adult who is trapped in the tiny room dies.

Next, Immediately have a child call the nanny under services on the phone. The nanny will give three option. Pick the first option which is something like "just once." The nanny will come to the house and stay until the next morning when the kids leave for school... unless you trap her in a way that she cannot starve, then she stays forever! Here's how to do it:

Build a room far away from the rest of the house and put a bed inside of it. Have a kid go to sleep and then get out of bed. Leave the bed unmade and leave the room. The nanny will come into the room make the bed, as soon as she enters, remove the door. Now she can't get out and all she has is a bed. Eventually she will get tried and go to sleep in the bed. Once she is in bed, build a room around only the bed that way she can't get up once she has rested. She cannot starve because she is in the middle of an action...sleeping. I don't know if the nanny can starve, I haven't tested it, but if she wets her pants and can have bad hygeine, why not starve.

So now you have a permeanant nanny for free, well almost. When I did it she charged me once when the kids went to school and then attempted to leave the doorless room to no avail, then she went to bed and it's been smooth sailing ever since. She didn't try to sleep until after the money was taken and she was off the clock.

Social services will not bother you as far as not having a parent around any longer. Some more things to keep in mind. It is easier to have active, serious children in such a household because they will be doing everything by themselves. Playful sims require lots of entertainment Things to buy: The kids stove (free meals forever), a bookcase (for cooking skill). You don't have to buy a refig or a stove. Kids don't care about room score either, let the place get messy! Done.

Having the sim "swim" in the house builds up points quicker than swimming in the pool (or does it just allow the sims to do other things quicker?)? If that's true, I'm definitely going to use that all the time, I hate building body points.

Here's a hint, if you are having trouble with the Aspiration score, pick Fortune aspiration for your next Sim. If you use one of the money cheats ('motherlode' or 'kaching') its by far the easiest Aspiration (you can just buy things over and over for the Sim, since each time you buy something the next 'want' is another object...its very easy to get them into platium mood that way).

-Avoid making a Sim too messy in CAS if you plan on that Sim having children (I made a sim with zero neat points, and he has a CONSTANT fear of changing a diaper whenever there's a baby/toddler in the house - its quite hard making one parent do every diaper change).

-Maybe other people found it easier, but I think that sim potty training is the most annoying thing there is. You have to keep adding it to the queue after either having your sim empty the potty chair (while the toddler manages to wander off), or sell and rebuy it over and over. After I did this with one toddler, I realized how unneccessary it is. Children will know how to walk/talk/use the toilet whether or not they are trained properly as toddlers. You can still have them 'grow up well' too. Just fufill a lot of their smaller 'wants' (like being cuddled or played with) right before they age, and it'll be the same as if they were taught to walk/talk/potty trained.

-This is a rule I used in TS1, and its still true now: when building a house you can't have too many bathrooms. One per Sim will save you a lot of Sim traffic jams later.

-I've posted this twice before, but here it is again, this is the guide for Sim genetic traits:

Hair Color-
Dominant: Brown, Black. Recessive: Blond, Red.

Eye Color-
Dominant: Brown, Dark Blue. Recessive: Gray, Blue, Green.

Unless the Sim had a parent or other ancestor with a recessive trait, dominant traits will ALWAYS win out over recessive. Sim hair/eye color works like this: each sim has one allele from each parent, and the dominant one will the one showing, but they can pass the recessive trait onto their children (if they breed with someone with recessive traits). In the case of either allele being dominant over the other (ex. brown hair vs. black hair, or green eyes vs. gray eyes), there's an equal chance of either one showing.

Skin tone is slightly different. Sims can have either parents skin tone, or one in the middle (therefore offspring of the darkest skintone and the lightest one could have any color, but offspring of the lightest and the third darkest could be Skintone 1, Skintone 2, or Skintone 3, but not Skintone 4).

Alien appearence is dominant except for eye color.

Custom content can be either dominant or recessive (depending how it was made).

-There is a 10% chance of having twins with any pregnancy. So far any tips to get twins (two geminis, "WooHoo / try for baby" twice in a row) haven't proven 100% effective. I haven't heard anyone get twins after not saving and reloading either (as far as I know, twins are determined at conception, whereas gender and appearence are determined at birth, so not saving and reloading works for a different gender, but not for twins).

Here’s a tip:
Use the time as a toddler to increase as much as possible charisma points (with smart milk) as they are the harder ones to gain once grown. Gain creativity and logic also, if you have the time.
After he becomes a kid have him watch tv with his parents in the food channel: he will learn to cook and gain diversion and social points

As for twins: it’s true. No matter how much you try, you can only change the gender at birth time, not get twins

Y'know what's funny, considering there's only a 10 percent chance of twins, I seem to get them with 3 out of 4 births. Is it possible that if a Sim was a twin herself, she might be more likely to have twins? Or if the father was a twin? My sim was a twin herself and her first children were twins, second was a single baby, then the next another set of twins, she had three sets of twins.

Then another sim had 2 sets of twins back to back within ten sim days.

Another sim had twins straight away.

I must be lucky, I tend to get twins more than single children. *shrug*.

Re: the tips for having a children only household.

Only thing I would add is instead of the bookcase, buy them a tv and have them watch the Yummy Channel. Then their fun will go up as well as cooking and it's easier to get them to do their homework.

Not really a cheat, but if you want children capable of having all possible hair colours, create a man and woman in CaS like this: first, make a man and a woman using a Bodyshop archetype you would like for the mother (identical, but one male, one female, and one with brown or black hair, and one with red or blond hair) and then make a child. Delete the original sims you made and make the child an adult woman. Now make the man's parents the same way but with the hair colours you didn't use for the woman.

You should have two adults, one with black hair and one with brown hair, each carrying a recessive hair colour gene, whose children can have any of the hair colours that come with the game.

Also, before your sim grows up, go to a shop and buy clothing for the age and gender they are about to grow to. They will grow up into that clothing rather than the ones the game uses every time someone grows up. This saves you money as you don't have to buy two outfits for every age, and it means todlers aren't always stuck wearing the same things.

That should be Cntrl + Shift + C.

Chloe, if you by chance have the program Cursor XP, that would explain why you can't get the cheat box to come up. Cursor XP uses the same command (Cntrl+Shift+C) for something. I don't know what since I don't have it. Also double check that the cheat box is actually there and you just can't see it very well. It's a single thin strip across the top that could be easy to miss depending on what's on your screen at the time. You can type in expand to make it bigger.

Piercesdesire, you have to also include which command you want, either on or off. Try typing in moveobjects on to turn it on and then moveobjects off to turn it off. That's what works in my game.

Easily get your kids into private school

Have one of your sims study cooking until it is maxed. Once their cooking skill is maxed, buy as many items that add + environment as you can to furnish one room of your house. Vases, statues, paintings, mirrors, etc. that give +10 environment work best if you have the money.

Invite the head master over early that day so you can prepare. The headmaster will arrive at 5pm so around 4:30pm, have your sim who maxed cooking make lobster. If you don't burn it, you are set for one part you need.

When the head master arrives, immediately choose entertain then give tour. Go the the room you just furnished then choose show room. If your room has enough items, the headmaster will cheer. If you didn't have enough money to furnish other rooms really nice then go to buy mode and move all your art, statues, etc to another room. Go to the next room then show it. Repeat in different rooms until he says he's seen enough.

After you furnish the rooms, choose entertain and call to dinner. He will go eat the lobster and unless you burnt it, once he is finished he will go shake your sim's hand and say they are invited to private school

Thanks for all your input. I will have to use some...I have a couple more...
How to keep the police from breaking up the party, or taking the bugular away(If you want to make friends with him)

When the police comes to break up your party pause the game and put the move objects on cheat on. Don't delete the police man but put him in a trapped area until the party is over. Do the same for the bugular.

Just to have fun

This is something that I thought was pretty funny so I will share it. If you have the police man over put him in the foundation. He cannot move there. It is good for a haunted house becasue their heads will stick out of the floor. Anyway, get a few people and put them under there. I took the guys ride to work and stuck the car in the backyard. I still don't think that guy came back from work  . I took alot of people's cars and did that. When the school bus comes to get your child, wait until he opens the door. Put the angle so you can pick the bus driver up(note: you have to have the moveObjacts on cheat on) Sit the but driver anywhere. (he will still be sitting like he was in the bus. I took the policeman and sat him in the bus drivers lap. Neither of them moved the whole time I was playing, but the policeman peed on the bus driver. It is quite funny if you want some funny screenshots.

In case anyone missed it the first time around...

How to Center Furniture and Other Objects

You do this by turning off the grid and instead of me trying to explain the whole thing, just read the thread t0Qt2BsNgl (Ryan) started about it. Just be sure to have the grid On (in True mode) to build your house and place windows and doors.
And C-rok found a way to Create Cheat Shortcuts which has come in handy for the Grid On/Off cheat. No more typing boolProp snapObjectsToGrid true/false.

No problem! :D Ryan posted it on Sept. 30th and it was on the first page for a while, but it's been buried. lol It's a very useful tip for making your home decor more aesthetically pleasing.

I do wish we could make this a sticky, or maybe a more condensed version sans all the extraneous replies so the cheats and tips will be easier to find.

I have 4 tips a a GREAT Faq link you can check out for those of you without the statagy guide or tose with it. You always learn something new. It is the best Faq/Guide I have ever read.

Tips

1. No Changing Needs Click on the Sim you are controlling and click "meditate". Their needs won't change as long as they do this. That is one less sim to look after.

2. Happy sim If your sim is feeling blue or sad make him/her look at a painting. It will boost the fun need.

3. Sims You Want To Age Press ctrl+shift+C and type in "moveobjects on". go to Save, and save the game. Go to Buy Mode, and select the sim you DONT WANT TO AGE, and delete him, her, or them, but DONT delete the sims you want to age. When you have deleted the desired charaters, turn free will on in the options bar. Press fast forward, and the sim(s) will take care of themselves until you have them at the desired ages. Then save, go to nieghborhood, and click your sims house, the Unaged sims will be waiting at the mailbox.

4. Full Mood Bars/ New Wants and Fears First, press Ctrl+Shift+C and type "moveobjects on", then, save your game so the characters don't loose their gains and skills they have gathered since the last save, after you do that, go to buy mode, click your characters, delete them. Go to options, choose return to nieghborhood, click yes when it asks you to save your game. when you are in your nieghborhood, click back on your sims house, when your family is loaded, they will appear at the mailbox with full mood bars, and new Wants and Fears.

....and the site with the Faq/Guide....http://www.gamefaqs....game/36760.html . Click the first Faq/Strategy Guide. You can also explorer the Sims 2 section a little more.

I vote for stickey :rah:

...another one....
I learned this the hard way.

Tip about your sim's lover

When you decide your sim needs someone to fall in love with do not just wait for someone to walk by your house and start talking them expectiong to get in a good relatioinship. Fall i0n love with a sim you can control becasue if your sim sees his/her lover(one that you can't control) dancing or flirting with another person your sim's social level will go all the way down. That is a tramitic experience for your sim. Fall in love with someone the sim lives with. You could at least flirt with someone in private if it is a sim you can control. You don't want the social bunny to come, now do you?

Just wanted to add my two cents.
As for the toddlers learning to walk, talk and be potty trained.. yes it is a big pain, but if they learn these things, not only are they very happy, but sooo much easier to take care of! (They will go potty on their own!) To make it extremely easy, just buy the smart milk with aspiration points. Its not very costly, and it works amazingly well. Just beware if the milk glows red though.. don't use that.

Hrrmmm.. I guess this is a sorta tip too for any fortune sim you may have who just isn't rich enough. For me it was Dina Caliente. She really wanted to marry Mortimer for his money, but I didn't want them together. So, I went ahead and got them hitched and immediately (at their same wedding party haha) had them start fighting. I made sure to invite guests that they had secret crushes on. I then made sure that they each caught each other cheating. After that I just had Dina select the "break up" option with Mortimer and voila! Dina remains Dina Goth, but she now owns his estate and all 511 thousand of his simoleans! She even has custody of Alexander hahaa... poor poor Morty. I did this at the Goth residence of course, but I'm sure if I had the party at her place I could have just kicked him out and kept his money too.
Kinda sad really... the poor dumpee gets left with nothing :(

Thanks for your tip...I have another

Getting that annoying baby to be quiet in the middle of the night
If your baby is bugging you at night, here is a suggestion. Go into the baby's room with the sim you are controlling and feed the baby. Then sing to him/her. After that, sing to him/her again and he/she should be asleep by then. It is the easiest way I know of right now.

Go here and follow the tutorial. It is a pretty simple tutorial, but you seed some sort of paint program. Your sims will be creating masterpieces in no time! :D
