Want a good Marriage?

Here is a tip for having a good marriage. Have a sim that has a fortune aspiration. also make sure that they do not have a job. Be sure someone in the family does to bring home the money, but a good marriage is based on that. Have grandpa bring home the bacon. You can still keep a good relationship if you have a job, but not seeing each other as much could alos damage a relationship and when your sims get home from work they are too tred to do what you tell them

Age Your Sims in a Hurry

If you buy the elixir of life from the aspirations reward menu and drink it with a below gold aspiration meter, then you can age you sim quickly. This is expecially useful if two teens fall in love but one grows up before the other. Or if you start out a family and you want to have one sim older than another sim such as spouses or teen siblings.

Only works with teens, adults, and elders.

I did this and it does work part of the time..but sometime it will remove days aged regardless of rather or not the aspiration level is in the gold. Frusturating when you're trying to age a sim and accidently end up making them younger..especially since the elixer is so pricey in aspiration points.

Yes. Maxis said that it is a 50/50 chance that you have to take with the elixer. It is also rather risky because if you have an elder and give it to them they might kick the bucket.

Thanks for the sticky :rah: glad everyone likes the tips. I will play the game later and post some more. ;)

This has been said on the general forum but I figured I would post it here...

Babies are very easy, don't bother with them much if their icon is green. I've found they stay good and happy for quite awhile with just the occasional diaper change and bottle. Also many of my sims seem to intuitively know when they need feeding. For babies, mother knows best.

When your baby is ready to age into a toddler, have them age beforehand after a nice long nap, and no bottle. Have some smart milk on hand. Make sure you've got a sim with some free time (easier said than done I know). Immediately after the baby has become a toddler, make sure you first lock the "talking" aspiration, then feed them some smart milk and really work on potty training and walking. Although this is a little time consuming up front, for the rest of your toddler's career you will hardly have to lift a finger. A room with a crib, all the little toddler skill toys, and a potty is all your little tyke will need. Toddlers sleep schedules can really get out of whack with night and day, but a potty-trained toddler only needs a sim to wake up for just a few minutes, put them on the floor, and go back to sleep. The toddler can take care of the rest until someone is well rested enough to pull a bottle from the fridge. Even then the toddler will feed themselves. Although you must empty a potty before you can potty train, toddlers can use potties even if they're full. The rest of his time can be spent earning skills and having fun.

When your toddler is ready to age into a child, teach them to talk. Since you locked on this aspiration in the beginning, this will put your toddler in platinum, and make the aging transition smooth, happy, and successful.

I've had really great success raising babies with this method. It's hardly a bother at all. That said, I've never had twins! But I imagine this method could take a little of the bother out of it.

Go here ;)

Helping Out

Are your sims lagging or just too lazy to clean things up. Go to build mode, delete the dirty objects(e.g. toilet) and delete it. Buy a new one and put it in it's place. You can also do this if an item is broke. You can also pick up some plates. ;)

in big busy houses, i find it easier to buy a new fridge instead of ordering groceries.

if someone wants to meet someone new, just have them call for pizza, or a serviceman, or talk to the maid. they usually dont have any relations with these people.

Any aspiration except for Fortune is good. Its hard to meet the fortune requirements without going broke.

I used the MOTHERLODE cheat, got my 50,000, bought all kinds of stuff for my house. When I went to play the next day, I couldn't pull up the actual neighborhood where you choose the lot to enter.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Wambs

I don't think that hod to do with your cheat. The game must be messed up. Maybe something you downloaded?

....another tip....

Listing To Your Favorite Music

First get whatever Mp3's you want to put on the game, then open up MyDocuments/EAGames/TheSims2/Music/(what Radio Station you want your song). Then, Drag your MP3 into the folder. Now, start Sims 2 then go to options menu, then music settings, then the Radio Station, then pick witch songs you want the radio to play. You can now listen to your favorite songs in your Sims game.

I don't know if this is really obvious, but if you move your Sims into an unfurnished house, they will have Wants like Buy Fridge, Buy Toilet, Buy Living Chair, etc etc (especially the Fortune sims) which are really easy to fill.

If you buy only what they currently want, click back into live mode and their wants will roll over straight away, then see what new things they want you to buy. You can get all your sims up to at least 10,000 aspiration and in platinum mood before you even unpause.

If you get Buy wants that add 'costing at least $xxx' then try to get them to roll over without fulfilling them, as you're just converting $$$ into aspiration points which is VERY expensive.

A final tip, while a sim is at work the hunger, bladder and social (I think?) fill up on their own if they get low. Don't waste time getting them breakfast and going to the toilet before work, make sure they do something fun or skill-building instead ;)

Small tip that's rather logical... don't play with toddlers just after feeding them. XD Otherwise your Sim will need to go shower/bathe.

I think its bad to have twins due to the 2nd one always having fewer personality points.

I think that twins should have been born with the same peronality points. I've had very strange things happen like twins with different skin color. Maybe this is realistic? <shrug>

Also many of the sims in the game (premade people) are set up a certain way. My mom was playing in Veronaville, and had a light man have a baby with Titania, and it was black like Oberon! The family tree even shows the light man and titania as the parents.

When I played them, I had titania have a baby with oberon, and she kept having twin black babies. I tried to get them to change by reloading but it was always black twins. Only the gender changed. I think Titania always has a black baby for her first childbirth.
I was testing the spaghetti idea to get twins with Dirk Dreamer and my user-created African American wife. She ended up having twins girls, one white, one dark like the mother; exactly. That's not what's odd.I get them to the child stage, after having 2 nannies always there and the one that was born second, that looks exactly like the mother had only one day until she was to turn into a teenager, whereas the other twin had the normal amount of childhood days until she ages to her twin sister's age. It's very odd and my only hope to keep them at the same age is to wait until the child twin is a teen, use the exliir trick to either add or subtract from one of their ages until they are even again. You don't have to live in Strangetown to get very strange events when you think your playing perfectly normally.

In my opinion, the best sim couple to have a family with is family/ knowledge. Family/ wealth is a close second, but second because Wealth sims tend to want to spend their money on overpriced rubbish like paintings. Knowledge sims tend to go for the science and medicine careers, which bring in decent enough money for the family sim to stay at home. At the top of the science career, they only work three days a week and kan spend the rest with their family. Additionally, they usually want to teach the baby one or two of the walk/talk/potty skills, taking some of the burden off the other sim, and they always want their child to get into grammar school and do well.

Family/family isn't a great combination as they often have conflicting wants -- only one sim can teach the baby a skill; they can't share it. Popularity isn't a good aspiration for a family. I've never seen a popularity sim want to have a baby, and I've only very occasionally seen them want to teach the child anything. They also are obsessed with meeting new people, which isn't easy when they have to stay at home and help the kids with their homework, and keep wanting to have parties (which a lot of babies are frightened) Romance is the worst aspiration for a sim in a family to have, as they often fear having children, and their children usually end up hating them because they won't stop mucking about with strangers.

Just to totally flip the last post on it's head...

Of all my sim parents my romance sim is actually proving to be the best of the bunch. Her son is always in platinum and their relationship scores are always 100 best friends or there abouts. Bear in mind during this time she's carrying on two relationships with 2 married men and working out a way to seduce two more...
But one of her WANT aspirations was also "Jesse grows up well" and she only had the fear of having a baby LONG after Jesse was born, and a child.

My point? Or tip? It is possible to use any aspiration you want to raise a successful child - BUT DON'T MAKE A ROMANCE SIM MARRY! Because Madrigal isn't married, she can have as many lovers as she likes come on and off the lot while Jesse is at school and there is never a chance of them catching each other and so causing chaos. Single parenthood is ok for a romance sim because there's no family to "break up". But if you are going to raise a kid with a romance sim I'd also advise to make sure that she has at least 5 niceness points ;) It prompts more positive interactions and prevents negative ones.

Oh yeah. Another highly obvious tip but if your sim is pregnant and you have a two storey house, place a single bed on the ground floor so she doesn't have to trog up and down stairs to get to bed or to the kitchen or wherever. Since energy levels drop so much through pregnancy it saves valuable points and means that Mum-to-be is in far better shape for doing other things.
Also, while Mum-to-be is on maternity leave, it's a good time to build stats that are "sitting down" stats like cooking (Yummy channel or reading), logic (chess), cleaning (reading) etc. She gains comfort and boosts her skill score along the way. (It's also a good time to build on half-baked friendships and boost the household friend score, too...)

Eth.

Same as clearing up the toddler's pot and the fridge.

if your sims are hngry and the fridge is empty, simply go to build mode and buy a new fridge and delete the old one.

no need to empty the pot, just delete them and buy them again.
Simple. :P
