They aren't Sims2Pack files, they're all .package. They simply don't work. I thought it could be because of being corrupted or something, but it occures with more than one object. Let's say I've downloaded like 50 objects, and only 20 work. I also followed some tips I've seen here, took all .package files from sub-folders, but nothing!
Oh, and I checked and they don't require any expansion pack...I can't think in a reason for this to happen

Whitex_sheep, if it's any consolation, it doesn't show up in my game either.

I went to peggy sims & downloaded the mac mini to test it for you, & it doesn't show. However, the wacom tablet that I downloaded from there does show up. So I don't think the problem is your game, I think it's something with Peggysims' files. I would let her know about this.

At first I thought maybe they were mis-categorized, so I checked under *show all*, but the mac mini's just not there.

I think this is not only a Peggy's Sims problem, because this occurs with objects from other sites like Around the Sims and 4Ever Sim Fantasy...Some show up in the game, while others don't!
Thank you so much for helping :D

It is an expansion pack issue. Even if the object (in this case a computer) is cloned from a base game object it won't work because installation of expansion pack has changed something about the object. Computers and bookcases have more interactions in university than the base game so they don't appear. The latest version of simPE deals with this problem.

ooops! I wasn't very clear in the above. The latest version of simPE allows creators to 'turn off' expansion data so they can clone base game objects without the added make them capitable with the base game. Some creators are redoing things to make them more capatible. Unfortuately, I think most are unaware that simPE now gives them the option to do so. :(

the above should read "....without the added action and make the compatible with the base game...." sorry

Hello! I was so grateful to find this thread but I'm afraid it didn't answer the question I have.

I've had the Sims 2 for several months now and I have NEVER been able to get a downloaded lot to appear in my game. I've been installing the .Sims2pack that the lots come in, but they never show up in my Lots bin. Am I doing something wrong or skipping a step?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My poor sims are living in houses I've built, which are night nearly so nice as some of the ones others create.

Does the package installer say "installed succesfully" when it's done, or does it say something else?

Do you need the EPs for them to work? The PC folks have all had the EPs for awhile and I've read in threads that each EP causes the game to save and package files differently. Maybe the houses you've downloaded will only work with Uni, or maybe Nightlife.

Yup - it always say it's installed.

I don't think that's it - I've always been very careful to check compatibility. There are a few I KNOW should work for me that never have. (For example, 220 Wright Way off of the Maxis site.)

I wanted to amend the above because I realized I was wrong - my problem isn't lots specifically, it's all .Sims2pack files - even when I click to install them, my game won't have the content available. And now it tells me I'm using an old version of the installer. I'm so confused.

Does anyone know how to fix this? (Will installing Uni maybe clear it up?)

I haven't heard of anyone else experiencing this.... so the only thing I can think of was your game perhaps intalled into the Applications folder? Is so move it out of there, to the root of your hard drive or in to a Games folder (if you have one) & see if that clears it up.

If your game isn't in your Applications folder, then I don't know what to suggest.

When I first got sims2 I also had the problem with sims2pack. fildes don't showing up. I figure the problem in my case was that I had them in my download folder, clicked install and didn't remove them. Once I removed them from my downloads folder, installed them by clicking on them and started the game they appeared. :)

I created the downloads folder myself, and I think the objects are showing up, but not correctly.

Example: I downloaded the Teen Union Jack Dress from this site, but it shows up as the red punk dress. This is the same with all of the clothing I downloaded. Help?

If your clothes are showing as a Maxis default, it usually means you are missing the mesh. Go back to the Teen Union Jack Dress download page & see if it needs a special mesh.

Ok, so Im sorta new to macs, but a quick learner. So far no one out there has complained about not being able to install .SIms2packs . I am having HUGE difficulties. When I double click on the file, an error message shows up saying there is do defult application to open this type of file. Help anyone?

Be sure you are double-clicking only the .sims2pack files.
.Package files just get copied into the downloads folder. The error you're getting sounds like the same error I've gotten when I've accidentally double-clicked a .package file.

Otherwise, check to make sure your game was not installed into the Applications folder. That too can give strange installation errors. The game needs to be installed either to the root of the hard drive or in a Games folder that is on the root level.

Hope this helps.

I looked, but it seems that custom content doesn't appear AT ALL unless it's in a .sims2pack, mesh or no mesh. Can I make .package files into .sims2packs?
