If you own a legal copy of the game and damaged a disc or lost your serial number, you need to contact Electronic Arts. Information about how to contact them can be found in the help section on thesims.com.

If you cannot retrive the origional serial number Ea will give you a new one once you provide them with proof you own a leagal copy of the game. Contact EA and they can help you. If you are looking for a serial number for an illeagal copy this is the wrong place to look. Noone here will help you with that.

- Click on the start menu and choose "run".
- A little box will pop up and you should type in "regedit" (without the quotes) then click on "ok".
- The "Registry Editor" will open. You'll see some stuff you don't recognize. That's okay. Take a deep breath. :D
- Expand (click on the little plus sign) "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE". Then expand "SOFTWARE".
- When you scroll through the list that opens, you'll find a list of all the software that is loaded onto your computer. There should be an entry for "EA GAMES" and another one for "Electronic Arts". The second one is the one you want.
- Expand "Electronic Arts". Then expand the "EA Games" subfolder that appears under it. You'll see listed there "The Sims 2". You'll also see listed any expanasion packs you may have. Because I have the first two, then I also have "The Sims 2 University" and "The Sims 2 Nightlife" listed. When you expand each of these, you'll see one subfolder called "ergc" listed. When you click on this "ergc" folder, then on the right side of the screen you'll see some info listed. Under "Name" is listed "(Default)", under "Type" is listed "REG_SZ", and under "Data" is listed my serial number!!
You should be able to find the serial numbers for your base game and for each of the expansion packs using the method above. Don't change any of the info you find listed under "regedit", but you should be able to go in and look around for your serial number. If you feel at all nervous about doing this yourself (you don't say whether or not you're comfortable doing computer "techie" stuff), then you can ask someone else to do it. As long as you just take a look around and don't change any of the info you find here, then you should be safe.
Good luck! And it's probably a good idea, once you find your serial numbers, to register your game. That way you can just look up your profile online to retrieve your serial numbers if you should ever need them again.

When you get a new game or expansion, you could record the serial number on the disc with a CD-safe pen/marker or label.

Thankyou in advance
I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in.
Don't make war, make love.
