If you registered your game with EA, the serial number will be in your profile at the official site.

If you never registered it, then it won't be on your computer. As Ginger pointed out, there's a sticky that talks about serial numbers. It says:

If you own a legal copy of the game and damaged a disc or lost your serial number, you need to contact Electronic Arts. Information about how to contact them can be found in the help section on thesims.com.

If you contact EA and have a legal copy of the game they can help you. If you cannot retrive the origional serial number Ea will give you a new one once you provide them with proof you own a leagal copy of the game. Contact EA and they can help you. If you are looking for a serial number for an illeagal copy this is the wrong place to look. Noone here will help you with that.

The only way you can provide proof is w/a reciept for your purchase. If you threw the reciept away (bad idea!), there won't be any other way except to buy another copy at full price. Either that or play it on the other comp.
Please pray for the peace of Israel!! That is to pray for the VERY soon returning Christ. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. When Jesus died on the cross He took our sin and shame; He offers us His righteousness as a GIFT that we must claim.

This is why I always register upon installing. I rarely register games, but Sims I do. I'm paranoid about losing my game manuals. That and I like the freebies they offer only with registration. :)

If you installed the game on your computer, then you did enter the serial number as the game asks for the serial number when you install it. I went looking on my computer and was able to find it. This is what I did:

- Click on the start menu and choose "run".
- A little box will pop up and you should type in "regedit" (without the quotes) then click on "ok".
- The "Registry Editor" will open. You'll see some stuff you don't recognize. That's okay. Take a deep breath. :D
- Expand (click on the little plus sign) "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE". Then expand "SOFTWARE".
- When you scroll through the list that opens, you'll find a list of all the software that is loaded onto your computer. There should be an entry for "EA GAMES" and another one for "Electronic Arts". The second one is the one you want.
- Expand "Electronic Arts". Then expand the "EA Games" subfolder that appears under it. You'll see listed there "The Sims 2". You'll also see listed any expanasion packs you may have. Because I have the first two, then I also have "The Sims 2 University" and "The Sims 2 Nightlife" listed. When you expand each of these, you'll see one subfolder called "ergc" listed. When you click on this "ergc" folder, then on the right side of the screen you'll see some info listed. Under "Name" is listed "(Default)", under "Type" is listed "REG_SZ", and under "Data" is listed my serial number!!

You should be able to find the serial numbers for your base game and for each of the expansion packs using the method above. Don't change any of the info you find listed under "regedit", but you should be able to go in and look around for your serial number. If you feel at all nervous about doing this yourself (you don't say whether or not you're comfortable doing computer "techie" stuff), then you can ask someone else to do it. As long as you just take a look around and don't change any of the info you find here, then you should be safe.

Good luck! And it's probably a good idea, once you find your serial numbers, to register your game. That way you can just look up your profile online to retrieve your serial numbers if you should ever need them again.

It's not a scam; this is why EA tells you to register the game.

this trick will not work if you uninstall the Sims 2 before doing the regedit thing. Then you will have to contact EA to get the serial number.

Calling EA is all you have to do......I wish that they would print the serial# in small font on the actual disc it would probably cut down on people calling them about serial numbers

When you get a new game or expansion, you could record the serial number on the disc with a CD-safe pen/marker or label.

Hello. I had no idea that it was possible to register your serial number/game until just now so can someone please give me a link or instructions telling me how to register?
Thankyou in advance

Go to Start...All Programs...EA games...The Sims 2...Electronic Registration.
You can also register all your expansions and stuff packs.
