THANK YOU!!! :ty: :rah: You have allowed me to reinstall Glamour Life, which is my favorite stuff pack ever. :ty:

Apparently I don't have as much patience and dedication that you have. :nw: The last time I found and accessed my list of registration codes was back in the Sims 1 days, and it was MUCH easier to find. ;)

I have all the codes saved in a word doc, which means I have a backup - incase I lose the books.

luvs10s - Thankyou so much! I've been pulling my hair out over this!

Aspirin - a word of advice - print that list out! I had everything like that on a word document, then my computer died and it all went ka-boom!

Its on my pc, my back up pc, my laptop, my dads pc, my dads pc and in my emails (in cyberspace).

So I'm probably pretty safe. But I would have printed it out if I didn't have as many backup copies.

Go to http://www.ea.com/ and log in (red button on top right) with your email address and password

the go to 'EA Support' (there's a link on the left hand side and one in the 'quicklinks')

Click on 'My Account' then enter your username and password, click login button - you may have to do this several times on different screens for it to work (it took me four attempts...)

'My Account' will then open - click on 'My Games' tab: It lists all your EA Games with their registration codes.

I think I left out a step... after 'My Account', got to "My Games' then enter username and password twice in two different popups.

I was so excited to read about these solutions. I upgraded my computer (old HD was formatted and made a slave in the new machine) but I only have 2 of the 3 instruction manuals that came with my games (I'm missing the University one). So I go to the links, and nothing but dissapointment.

- The Sims2 login doesn't work. Not that it rejects my entry, it just times out. Been trying to get in for 2 hours (while I exhausted all the other options).

- The EA log in works great, but "My Account" doesn't actually list any of the games I own (and I own a lot of EA games and register every one of them). All it gives me is options to change my name, mailing and billing addresses and so on. There is no list of games I own (including Sims & EPs, Spore, Madden, and a few others).

I checked the help at EA, and the ONLY options I could find is the post-90 day "Send us $10" option. The other links they give are for registering new products, not for reviewing what you have already registered. One wonders what is the point of registering except for the gameplay tip they send you (which you can usually figure out on your own after an hour or two).

It does seem that there may be additional information if you have bought a download-only version, but if you bought a retail copy with a hard-copy manual, and tossed the manual, looks to me like you're SOL.

/unhappy... :(

(Note - if I can ever log into www.thesims2.com maybe I will be able to edit my post with a happier message).

I always put the codes in a word doc and email it to myself. It means it doesn't matter so much if I lose the books.

all those anti piracy crap is such.. well crap! you pay a ridiculous amount of money for a game or a music cd, or a dvd, but when you want to play it like on your computer or something, you eather have to install extra crap or doesn't let you use it at all, or like i'm getting creative courses in school like video editing, and I go like , oh that sims song would be great under that, or, i want to put it in my music list.. well fat chance. so even though you bought all their crap, you still have to go download it illegally, or install special rippers or record from the recording. it's not like I want to exploit it and make money of it.. or have the funds or talents to make my own music.... it mostly works cause it makes real piracy harder, but people making serious money off it find way's of doing it anyways... all it does to consumers it put them off buying stuff because you never know what you can and can't do with it. like with the serials, you bought the thing for a ridiculous high price, and then you should search hours to find your serials online, or pay them 10dollars if you didn't want to waist your time regestering and wanted to start playing already or aren't that computersavy.... I mean that to me is a complete unclientfriendly service....

( don't get me wrong, i almost have all the expansion packs and keep a safe eye on my cases-which take up a ridiculous amount of space and I too pay to frikkin much to play the game...it's quite sad actually) and I wanted to fix teh latest expansion pack, so it would run from my pc and not from my disc( cause they do wear out, not only your disc but the reader too, and it makes a horrible noise) but I haven't been succesful at it just yet.... maybe buying it online would be an option.. but I'm just a student and don't have creditcards, nor do i want a credit card( buying thing whitout having the money to buye it is just silly)
nor do I feel completely save, not knowing were my money is going...

If you installed the game on your computer, then you did enter the serial number as the game asks for the serial number when you install it. I went looking on my computer and was able to find it. This is what I did:

- Click on the start menu and choose "run".
- A little box will pop up and you should type in "regedit" (without the quotes) then click on "ok".
- The "Registry Editor" will open. You'll see some stuff you don't recognize. That's okay. Take a deep breath. :D
- Expand (click on the little plus sign) "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE". Then expand "SOFTWARE".
- When you scroll through the list that opens, you'll find a list of all the software that is loaded onto your computer. There should be an entry for "EA GAMES" and another one for "Electronic Arts". The second one is the one you want.
- Expand "Electronic Arts". Then expand the "EA Games" subfolder that appears under it. You'll see listed there "The Sims 2". You'll also see listed any expanasion packs you may have. Because I have the first two, then I also have "The Sims 2 University" and "The Sims 2 Nightlife" listed. When you expand each of these, you'll see one subfolder called "ergc" listed. When you click on this "ergc" folder, then on the right side of the screen you'll see some info listed. Under "Name" is listed "(Default)", under "Type" is listed "REG_SZ", and under "Data" is listed my serial number!!

You should be able to find the serial numbers for your base game and for each of the expansion packs using the method above. Don't change any of the info you find listed under "regedit", but you should be able to go in and look around for your serial number. If you feel at all nervous about doing this yourself (you don't say whether or not you're comfortable doing computer "techie" stuff), then you can ask someone else to do it. As long as you just take a look around and don't change any of the info you find here, then you should be safe.

Good luck! And it's probably a good idea, once you find your serial numbers, to register your game. That way you can just look up your profile online to retrieve your serial numbers if you should ever need them again.

:wow:   I had the same problem and have asked on many sites. You are the only one who said to go into electronic arts and guess what - they are all there. You saved me mega dollars having to get codes to put games on my new computer. Could not register before, just got the internet. From now on I write codes on discs and register them. Again thank you.:rah:

I have had the same problem in the past which has lead me to having two copies of some expansion packs.
Now as soon as I get a new expansion pack I take a sharpie and write the serial number on the disk. That way even if I lose the book I have the number.

I keep the game discs in the case when I'm not using them, and never discard the manual either. common sense really.

There is some very informative information in here. I have too wondered this same question before. I wish I had searched this forum back then because I ended up purchasing another copy.
