As I have mentioned before; my sims game is based upon a royal theme. My sims are based upon the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and based upon the Imperial Hapsburg. Currently the succession to the throne is based upon the British, Danish, and Spanish model of succession laws. Males take preference over females. Example: sons before daughters, daughters before uncles, uncles before aunts, etc.... I am thinking of changing the succession laws to male only! Where it would be ALL male descendants of the Imperial Family, and then upon total extinction of the male line, the eldest female in relation to the last male monarch would succeed, and then her male line descendants. Liechtenstein currently uses this model, and this was the succession for the German, Austrian, and Russian Empire, when the monarchy was in use in those countries.
I am thinking of changing the succession because I really do prefer males over women, in regards to the throne. I am basing my game upon historical accuracies; and the did exclude females from succession in real life. And three... I take the time to keep up with over 100 members of the Imperial Family, spread out amoung two different neighborhoods, so why waste all these male Princes, just reproducing in their own houses, when a daughter would become Monarch before the next male in line of succession.
I want to hear opinions, questions, thoughts, etc.....
Thanks,
Adam

I like the Austro-Hungarian Empire in part, but it is worth noting that two separate neighbourhoods cannot communicate with each other. That means two Sims from two different neighbourhoods cannot share a relationship.
Sorry if I went off a bit, it has been about three months since I last played the complete collection.

That has nothing to do with my question. Yeah, I know that they cannot communicate with each other. Most of the sims, and especially the ones that are closest in line of succession to the throne, are in the main neighborhood. Once I ran out of houses in the first (main) neighborhood, then I carried over the others to the second neighborhood. My question is should I change the succession laws of the Family.
Thanks

It sounds to me like changing it is something you would like to do, so you should. It's your game, you need to make yourself happy. In my own experience (granted, my experience is with Sims 2, not Sims 1, but there's a parallel here) I recently changed my legacy heir line to a patriarchy, and the little dorks started cranking out the girls. However, it sounds like this would not be a problem with you because you have tons and tons of boys. If you prefer the males, then you should go with them.

So the succession to the Throne was changed to male only. Finally decided to do it. Thanks for everyone who responded.
