This was the least distrssing of the updates...probably because Antara's focus is more on Beau, which is cute. I'm so excited for their wedding...and a little scared that they'll get sick of waiting and just elope.

At the rate things are going, some future relative is going to elope (if only for the fact that trying to run 40 sims at one wedding is making me crazy :Oo:

We're almost there people...

But not quite...

First I have to fix a small bit of stupidity on my part (I was going to move Dustin and his family to a new house... and I accidentally moved their ENTIRE house with them in it instead of moving the family... so I just spent the last hour or so in SimPE fixing all the family connections  )

Meanwhile, here's a quickie to whet your appetite

Entry 9:

My wedding is tomorrow. I feel as if I have been on an emotional roller coaster. Beau and I have spoken about it. His mother has been through several highs and lows as well, particularly since he was only a toddler when his biological father died. She has been talking about how long it took after the birth of his elder brother for her to become pregnant with him, and how much of a surprise Skip’s birth had been. Amanda has also been going through similar episodes with her father; she was less than a year old when her mother died.

Still, we are intent on continuing our plans. I do not think that any of our parents would want us to stop our weddings because of their emotional distress.

I have gone over my last minute preparations. I have something old (Grannie’s wedding gown and the jewelry that she passed down to me); something new (the veil I purchased to go with the gown); something borrowed (Amanda has loaned me one of her handkerchiefs – I will do the same for her wedding); something blue (which only Beau will get to see when we arrive at our hotel); and the lucky simolean for my shoe.

Earlier I tried on my gown and veil to find a way to wear my hair. The toilet in my bathroom was clogged and I did not want to risk dragging my train through the mess, so I was using the mirror in the nursery bathroom when Krondor walked in with one of the boys in his arms. My brother stopped and stared.

It’s really happening, isn’t it?” he asked.

“Tomorrow,” I returned.

“It feels weird. One minute I’m tailing you and Beau on your dates, next minute you two are getting married.”

I put my hands on my hips. “Just how many dates did you follow us on?” Krondor grinned and I rolled my eyes. “What are you going to do when Athena, Di, and Kiki are all of dating age? Follow all of them around?”

“I’ll cross that when I come to it.”

Rolling my eyes again, I went back to my room and carefully removed my veil and gown and stored them in my wardrobe. Tomorrow…

Entry 10:

I am writing as the plane makes its way to Takemizu Village. My husband is asleep in the seat next to me. Yes. My husband, Beau Broke. If he felt anything like I did, he did not get much sleep last night.

Personally, I do not think I slept at all. As tired as I am, I am still filled with energy that is keeping me going. I feel like I need to record everything that happened today – not that I will forget any of it.

I awoke way too early; the rest of the house was asleep. To soothe my nerves I soaked in a hot bath. It did not help. I soon heard the sounds of the rest of the house awakening. Kiki screamed for attention. The boys joined her. Trina and Francis went to take care of them while Krondor made breakfast. I was too nervous to eat, but Father insisted that I have food in my stomach, so I managed some tea and toast.

After breakfast, my hands trembled as I put on my makeup. Grannie’s gown hung in the closet. I could almost feel her smiling as I slipped it on. By 9am I was ready; it was way too early. I paced back and forth in my room, until Father called me.

My father, Krondor, and Francis waited for me at the bottom of the stairs. I do not think I had been that nervous since I went to the senior dance with Beau. They smiled as I carefully descended the stairs. “I wish your grannie was here to see how beautiful you look,” Father said as he hugged me.

“C’mon,” said Krondor as he also embraced me. “Let’s get you to the cathedral.”

Francis and Trina remained behind while Father and Krondor helped me get into the car without damaging my gown; Trina and Francis were waiting for Francis’ parents to arrive (they offered to babysit Kiki and the boys) and for Colin to finish getting ready (my younger brother woke up late).

It was a silent ride to the Ard Rig Cathedral. I believe the butterflies in my stomach had ceased “fluttering” and had begun a massive swarm of activity. I believe my father was fighting back tears.

When we arrived at the Cathedral, Beau was not there yet. Vicar Dibley showed me to a room where I could freshen up and compose myself. I think I lost track of time, because the next thing I knew, Father was tapping at the door and telling me that Beau and the guests were here and the ceremony was ready to start. I took a deep breath and made my way to the main sanctuary.

All of our family and friends were there. They scrambled to get seated as I walked down the aisle and the Vicar played the wedding march. Beau looked at me lovingly as I approached. It felt as if everything had slipped into slow motion. My journey of a few yards took an eternity. The moment that I had long fantasized about was almost upon me.

Finally, under the wedding arch, Beau took my hands. We promised, in front of our assembled family and friends, to love, honor, and cherish each other so long as we both would live. I slid the ring onto his finger; he placed the ring on mine. Everyone applauded as we kissed to seal our vows. Then we kissed again.

The cake was set up in a separate room. I sliced the first piece. I could not help myself – I pushed a little into Beau’s face. “Oh, so that’s how it’s going to be,” he said a split second before he retaliated. Once all of the guests were settled having cake, Beau and I slipped out.

It might seem a bit odd, but one of the reasons we chose the cathedral was because this was where Grannie and the General were buried. We placed flowers on our grandparents’ graves. “I feel like they were there with us,” said Beau in a soft voice. “They would have been so happy to see us married.”

“I know.” I wiped away a tear.

Beau took my hand. “And if they were here right now, they’d be yelling about why we were standing in a cemetery looking at a couple of graves when you should be inside celebrating with your guests.”

“I know,” I said, this time with a smile.

As we walked back inside, Dustin met us. “Hey,” said Beau’s elder brother. “They’re ready to start the toasts!”

We rejoined our guests in the main sanctuary. Champagne was passed to the adults; sparkling apple cider to the children, teens, and expectant mothers (I believe that, in all this excitement over wedding planning, I forgot to mention that Ivy is pregnant – between her and Tabitha, we were all glad that there were three doctors present at the wedding). Father led the toasting. It felt rather surreal as I listened to my father’s speech about me and Beau. Other friends and relatives also offered up toasts; each time we were expected to kiss. Beau and I obliged them.

After a while, the younger children became bored with all the speeches and the “mushy stuff” (as I heard Jamison tell Clinton). They went outside to play, but came running back shouting “The taxi’s here! The taxi’s here!”

“Look’s like that’s our cue,” Beau whispered in my ear. We ducked into side rooms where our suitcases and a change of clothes were waiting while Benjamin went to stall the taxi driver. Then, amidst flying birdseed tossed by our loved ones, Beau and I dashed to the taxi.

I believe I should end this now… I have had very little sleep, and perhaps I should try to nap a bit before we arrive. My next entry will probably be written on the way home from the honeymoon.

Aww....so pretty! I adored everything....the dress, the cathedral...for some reason, this wedding seems so much special-er than all of your others...then again, this is the one I've really been awaiting. Oh...it's so cute...and I'm so happy. I can't wait to hear about the honeymoon!

Lady...once again, you've picked the perfect day to update. I just finished coaching two friends through a really messy break-up (no wonder my stories are so dramatic).

Thanks guys :D

"Headache" is an understatement. I had to restart the wedding alone about 8 times. I'm using a hack to allow more than 8 guests, which slowed down the game. The first two times, I tried to get a video cap of the wedding video (didn't come out as well as I wanted). Then I ran it through to get standard wedding scenario caps. Still, it kept locking up. One time I had to restart, just because where I put the champagne bottle was in too small a room and no one could get close enough.

They're happily on their honeymoon...

Hmm... did I take out the risky whoohoo hack yet?

You would think with winter break, I'd be get more writing done...

Entry:

After a honeymoon that we wish could be longer, we are once again on the airplane – this time on our way home. I would have written in my diary every day but Beau kept me occupied every waking moment.

We arrived in the mid afternoon at the Steaming Dragon Hotel. When we checked in, it felt a bit odd when the bellhop referred to us as Mr. and Mrs. Broke. He led us to our room and placed our bags inside. Beau swept me up into his arms and carried me across the threshold.

It did not take us long to decide what to do first on our honeymoon; we had lived apart for nearly three months. Let me just say that Beau finally got to see the “something blue” I purchased for the wedding.

Even though we were in a foreign location and there were sights to see and things to do, we spent the rest of the day cuddled together under the covers. We were in no hurry to go out into the world. We were content in our own little corner.

The next morning we awoke, refreshed and ready to face a new day as husband and wife. Takemizu Village is an amazing place. The food is a bit unusual; it is the first time I ever had rice for breakfast. Everyone said I should try the chirashi. Since I have never been fond of seafood, I decided it was probably not the best food to start the day with.

We spent the next few days on tours, seeing the sights, chatting with the locals, visiting the hot springs, not to mention making up for lost time cuddling, kissing, and showing how much we love each other.

We wish we could have afforded to stay longer. Sitting and having tea and grooming the zen gardens were very relaxing. However our jobs and new home are waiting for us and we can not stay. Perhaps one day we will be lucky enough to be able to purchase a vacation home here.

I have only one regret about this trip: I allowed myself to be talked into trying the chirashi. Since I ate it, I have been having bouts of queasiness and nausea. It is probably just food poisoning. Not the best way to end a honeymoon.

However, I would not have changed one moment of it.

Hmmmmm! I hope that's a bit of foreshadowing because I can't wait for little Antara and Beau's!

I have just read from before Christmas till now. For some reason I wasn't told that you had updated!! :(

:D On the other hand, that meant I had the joy of the pre-wedding, the wedding and the honeymoon all in one go. Sat here with tears in my eyes and hope that the *queasy stomach* is a little Broke baby on the way.

Babies!

Even if they don't have a baby, I'm really happy for Beau and Antara. It's so nice that they finally get to be together, with a whole house to themselves...they've never had that before, and it'll be interesting to see how they react.

Entry:

I can not believe how amazing my family is! This time they have gone above and beyond!

Perhaps I should start at the beginning. The taxi stopped at my father’s house. Beau and I ran in briefly to greet my family and to retrieve the keys to our new house. Unfortunately I missed the girls – they were shopping with Trina. I would have to bring them their souvenirs later. Francis had a big smile on his face; Krondor seemed to be glaring at Beau.

We could not stay long. The taxi was waiting with our luggage. Of course we would see my family later in the day. The taxi drove us around to our new house. Beau and the driver unloaded our suitcases. Then Beau turned and swept me up into his arms to carry me over the threshold. Inside we were greeted with an amazing sight.

Instead of Dustin and Tiffany’s old sofa, there was a full living room suite. It is a good thing that Beau had put me down, otherwise he would have dropped me. We went from room to room. Zoltar and Tabitha’s card table and folding chairs were nowhere to be seen; the dining room instead had an elegant table, chairs, and sideboard. The kitchen cabinets were upgraded beyond what Beau and I had ordered. The only thing in the house that was truly something I had been promised was Grannie’s dresser. The rest of the furniture was brand new. Handwritten cards in each room told which relative provided what. The upstairs hallway was turned into an art gallery, displaying artwork created by Colin and our nieces and nephews.

I broke down in tears. Beau put his arms around me and rested his cheek on my head. We were both overwhelmed by how much our families care for us. The rest of the day was spent calling everyone and thanking them.

By the time we were finished, it was late in the evening. We curled up together in the comfort of our bed. OUR bed. In OUR house.

Aww that's so touching! I really love how you decorate your houses lady! And since you spilled the beans to August I can assume that pretty soon their house will be plus one member ;)

What a sweet update! I'm still really excited for Antara and Beau - until I finish college, I'm long distance, and I'm about ready to just drag my boyfriend down the aisle.

The rooms look great...in "Two Sides", Krondor mentioned that the rooms didn't blend together that well, but I think they do. They all have a brown/green thing going on.

Either way, great house. I never have the attention span to decorate long enough to actually put stuff on my end tables, unless there's only one table, so kudos to you.

I love doing houses. I haven't uploaded a bunch of houses for Sims 2, but I did a bunch of Sims 1 houses and hotels.

By "matching", I meant that the kitchen was sort of "country french", the dining room is "art deco", and the living room is "mission". For Francis, as an architect, he'd generally do a whole house to one general theme (all art deco, or all mission, etc)
