hi flobi. I already have a problem on step three or screenshot three. it says click flood fill and everything turn black. I don't know where to click flood fill and my color palette doesn't look like yours

If you click on the help tab in your program (whichever one you are using), then search (index) for flood fill. That should tell you where it is and how to use it.

Of course, you can always just use the paint brush and color it all in with black.

Ronja pointed directly at the button on the toolbar. Also, you can type "F" on your keyboard to get to the Fill Tool (in both programs, JPSP7 and CPSPPX2)

Okay, I have finished the two tutorials, one for Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 and one for Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7. You can find them here: http://blog.flobi.co...nt-shop-pro.php . The original tutorial has been removed because it contained an error that could be experienced if any layer did not extend to each edge of the canvas. Per request, this is heavy on screenshots. There are 39 for EACH tutorial covering almost every aspect of this.

I have included as a bonus, a free completed pattern available nowhere else that you can download for your game near the end of the tutorial!

After what I considered a reasonable time, my tutorial was neither approved nor denied, it wasn't even acknowledged. I would ask, what criteria is taken into account for this decision? Obviously, it's not the same as that which is taken into account for forum posts. I want to illuminate. But, I like recompensation, and if I have an opportunity which can do both, I'll jump on that like fire on wood, like fire on TP. (Bad decision to verify that statement while I've been drinking, luckily, I've a large back-yard. Thankfully, I've a long timeout on my session.)

I guess it comes down to this: Should I resubmit my toots, or should I just concede that they are dead?

Hi Jack - I´m not flobi, but I hope I can help you a little bit. Here is a screen that will show you, where the Button you search for is.
Sorry, my english isn´t so good - hope, you can understand what I mean.

And what about your color palette, can you tell a little bit more how it looks like - or maybe make a screen, too?

thanks, I found the button already and able to follow flobi's finished image full beginner friendly tutorial from his blog.

I have a question. I tried to make a three color pattern using PSP, following your tutorial.
How come even if there's three colors in the pattern textures it only shows one layer in the new raster name
and layette?

I'm not sure what step you're on. When you made the pattern, did you put each color in it's own layer?

I was in the beginning. open my pattern texture, resize it go to file location under preference and creat a new raster layer, the raster layer only said Layer 1 and then below it background. By the way what do you mean put each color in it's own layer?:(

Oh. Well, this tutorial isn't for that. This tutorial is for making a 4 layer image into a pattern where the color in TS3 is based on the opacity of the layer in PSP.

Frankly, your image should have been made in layers in the first place. If you're trying to take an image that you found on the internet and make it into a pattern, firstly, you're probably breaking the copyright of that image and secondly, you're in for a long journey. If you're trying to do this with your own image, I highly recommend you begin over and learn about layering before you start. I can think of maybe one way to go about this without starting over, but it uses the Color Changer tool which JPSP7 does not have, and even using it, it would be a pain in the rear.

Never save an image that you're planing on using or editing later as a jpeg. It uses a lossy compression (it looses clarity when saved) and never looks as good when you open it back up. It's better to save as the native format of the program that you're using, in your case ".psp", so you know that none of the features you've used will be lost (e.g. PSP flattens many file formats before it saves, removing all layer information).

Basically, I'm not going to explain the basics of layers to you. You need to find out how to use your graphics program to make your own image properly before you move to the steps here. Go on google and look for tutorials about layers in Paint Shop Pro.
