Nerzek,

Layers are different than Channels. You may only have one Layer, but you will have at least 4 Channels -- RGB, Red, Green and Blue. Adding the Alpha will bring your Channel total to 5. If you have the Alpha hidden, you will get the "too many Channels" error. All of the Channels need to be visible. To quote the section of Sinastra's tutorial that deals with the Channels...

Quote

Click your Channels tab (should be on the same box with Layers) and click the ‘Create New Channel’ button.

Select the Alpha Layer it creates, and paste your clipboard (the black and white image) into this channel.

Now, click and make all the channels visable (click the empty boxes next to them where you see the eye on the alpha mask).

Remember this step, it is a quick and easy way to do alpha masks!

Now save the duplicated image as a DDS file with the following settings: DXT5 ARGB 8 bpp | interpolated alpha

Hi, every time I try to upload more then one item in a sims3pack, it won't let me. I'll been trying about four different items. So, I just put one in the pack and it accepted that. Is there a limit or file size, it has to be? And what should go in it? The picture size is 64 x 64 inches or pixels or what? Maybe I'm using the wrong size. Thank you

I know that channels and layers are different. I have the five channels and none of them are hidden. Could someone just tell me where I am supposed to change the settings for saving the .dds file?

@ Nerzek - you change that setting in the plugin itself. You wont be able to change that setting on the file you're having trouble with because it won't open the dialogue area for you, so create a tiny new file and save that as DDS when the dialogue pops up, change your settings...follow through with the save, then try again with your original...It happened to me once that way and that's how I managed to work around it, hope it works for you :)

Did you uninstall the old and then install the new?

The one you downloaded is the one for patterns and meshing etc. All in one program. Did you try to download again and install? May be a problem with the file.

If that doesn't work, you might want to post your computer specs - pc or mac, windows xp or vista, etc. to help someone to help you.

You need to choose C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 only. :)

The install path is mostly language dependant. If the path is always C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Workshop could locate it itself. :)

You need to download the current version for Photoshop. Then you install the plugins by running the exe. :) If you don't operate on an english system, you might check the Photoshop folder where it put the plugins to and move them if needed.

To add to what Murano just said...

After you install the plug-in, you may need to enable Photoshop to find the plug-in. Go to Edit, Preferences, Plug-ins. Click to enable the checkmark for Additional Plug-ins, then use the Choose button to find the folder where you put the plug-in. Click OK when that is done. The next time you start Photoshop it should be able to recognize the DDS files.
