If you notice after updating your .DDS files in workshop and you still see what looks like could be a bump map of the original files, try adding a 4x4 transparent .DDS file to the Overlay (if you are not using it). Sometimes it fixes the problem (no guarantees, though).

For the ones who use 3DS Max and who have troubles with unwanted breaks in your meshes after mapping, when you export them to Milkshape, try to export them as .smd file, using a 3DS Max plug-in:

It might be useful to know you don't have to look for a special .dds-plugin if you're using Paintshop Pro. You can use the Photoshop-plugin mentioned in the tutorials. There is only one thing you need to do; the Photoshop plugin will install itself in a folder named "Plug-Ins" (located in your PSP folder). You need to change the name of this folder to "Plugins". PSP doesn't use a dash in the name of it's plugins folder. If everything is in place, you can use the .dds-plugin like you would use in Photoshop!

When you are having a problem mapping a particular area in milkshape:
Choose from the top tabs, model-select-then face.
Then make sure ignore backfaces is checked. First select the faces you do not wish to map, the ones that keep getting in your way, and go to EDIT- HIDE SELECTION
Now just the faces that you want to map will be visable. This really helps.
