So I went through this tutorial on creating your own seamless patterns - http://www.thesimsre...erns%20Tutorial, and it's simple enough, but my patterns are not tiling evenly when I offset the image by +32 horizontal and +32 vertical. I've tried different offset values, but it makes it even worse. Here's what I'm getting

It's like every other heart is missing its middle. It says in the tutorial that my image needn't be centered, but I've tried centering it too, and still get the same outcome. Is my image to complicated? Too big? I've resized it a few times but still get the bottom and top tiling messed up. Or am I just overlooking something and should slap myself? Any ideas??

Have you tried having only 1 heart in the center of the image for the pattern? What does it look like then, could you maybe post a pic of that too? Maybe I can see something there, though I'm no expert...

I was trying to get my brother to help me too because he uses photoshop a lot, but he can't figure it out. I tried just a black circle and it tiles perfectly. So then we put a circle around the heart, but it won't tile right. SO I tried only 1 heart in the middle of the image and it just looks too spaced out like this: http://i30.tinypic.com/dx1etk.jpg (it's a different heart because I was showing my brother). It's just too empty.

I agree that it's too empty with only one heart in it... perhaps look at how the heart was "cut" on the four corners? It looks as if it isn't "cut" quite right, which makes the re-assembly when it's tiled problematic. Or you could try to play with adding more hearts and looking at their spacing to make it look right, and in that way avoid any cutting for now?

I had my stepdad (who has used photoshop forever) and he showed me that the design HAS to be perfectly centered for it to break apart in the corners and tile correctly. So I go home and try it myself and it's not working. I center it perfectly but when I tell it to offset +32 horizontal and +32 vertical, the four corners don't match up together. ARGH! I don't know what's going on, but I'm giving up.

I took your image and followed the tut and it worked. I do not know what you are doing wrong. I did, however, just take the image of the offsets and placed them side by side etc. and filled the new 256 with them by copy and paste. try that.

If you resized or canvas resized your image at any point that can make the offset not play nice - it'll offset within the space of the old image/canvas, I've found. If you start with a fresh 64x64 image, select the canvas and then crop just to be on the safe side, it'll definitely avoid this problem. Paste in your heart design, paste in a second copy then do the 32,32 offset, merge the layers, do the define pattern and then flood fill the 256x256 pattern and you should find it works.
