This just started happening!! I have Vista and I've been using Iff Pencil 2 for some time now, but all of a sudden it won't read the script.txt or the sst.txt files that are in the Iff Pencil 2 folder and get the error message that it can't find Behavior.iff - then it opens!!

All I get when I open an object are numbers (which of course don't tell me much)!!

I re-DL the program from TSR - 3 times, but with the same results.

Any help out there?

When something that worked in Vista suddenly stops working, odds are the problem is Vista, not the program.

Ok, now that we've uncovered that - what can I do?

Go to MS and find out? I hate Vista for this very reason - with XP I could find out, but with Vista.........................

Unfortunately, I don't know enough about Vista to be able to say much. I know that IFF Pencil uses the registry to be able to find The Sims, and therefore behavior.iff - are you still able to play w/o any problems? However, I have *no* idea why it would become unable to find its own script files in its own folder.

Yes, the game plays and I can open Iff Pencil 2 except for the error message - "can't find Behavior.iff" - then it opens just fine.

I've even tried a "Restore Point", but that didn't work either. I went back to the end of March, but maybe I should go back further as I'm not sure exactly when it may have happened as I hadn't used the program for about 2 weeks!!

I've checked everywhere - I can think of (and not being too techie) - have no idea on where to even start to look in Vista for the registry (which may not even be accessible with Vista)!! Oh, to have XP back again!! At least I'd have a clue.

Would one of those PC fix programs be worth the money and the time for this problem?

Behavior.iff should be in The Sims\GameData . If it weren't there, I wouldn't think you'd be able to play. So, the problem is with IFF Pencil being able to find it.

FWIW, Vista still has regedit in C:\Windows.

I knew that Behavior.iff was still in the Sims File cause that's the first thing I hunted down when I got the Error message.

I'm not so good with these kind of things and wouldn't want to make a bigger mess!!

What am I looking for and how do I fix it?
