when i try to make skin in paint the colours are different for example if i use pink it comes as brown on skin. Is there another way i do this but without the colouring going wrong?

The reason they are coming out different is because you are in the wrong color mode. The skin texture is in 256 color mode(also known as Indexed Color or 8 bit) which only allows you to work with a very limited amount of colors. What you need to do before working on the skin is to change the color mode to 16 million color mode(also known as RGB color or 24 bit). Then when you are done with the skin, it needs to be changed back into 256 color mode so the game can read the file properly. I use PaintShop Pro and Photoshop to make skins so I don't know if Paint will allow you to change color modes. If it doesn't, then there are some free image editing programs that will allow you to do that...
