I got the Pirates and Nobles expansion pack today and installed it. I don't know where I went wrong, but I've lost all my saved games and all my Watcher's progress.
I knew I was likely to have a few teething problems with this ep, but this takes the biscuit. I've tried doing a system restore which didn't help. The ep just wiped out my old game completely, I even need to put the special code back to get the bonus throne rooms (I had the Limited Edition of the base game).
Not only that it told me I had to be online to activate the game. What's that about - how do people without internet access manage? I rarely go online with my gaming computer - it's not situated so I can plug it into the internet easily. Anyway, I connected it up but when I realised I'd lost my games I was so upset I tripped over all the wires and hurt myself when I got up. I'm just lucky I didn't break anything.
EA really is run by sadists :(
Remember kids, put your saved game in a safe place before you instal this wretched ep.
Oh - and now my game is in wide-screen and all my sims look short and fat.
I lost all my games

Panic over - sort of. I played for a while and had to do the tutorial all over again :( then I had a go at playing pirates.
Finally I got fed-up and scoured my computer again to find my old games and - success. I've replaced the new games folder with the old one and, fingers crossed, it looks ok. I'll have to check it more thoroughly later on. It's nearly 5 in the morning now.
I'm still at a loss to know what's happened. Please feel free to delete this thread - or leave it as a cautionary tale :)
I sorted out the short, fat sims too. Just went into game options and changed the screen size.

I recently lost all my quest progress when I simply updated my game as required. It did give me a warning that I would lose any quest progress and I did. In fact, it put all my heroes back to level 1 and the ones who had earned Legendary traits no longer had them. It's not a big deal as I had gone to playing regular Sims 3 for awhile and don't mind repeating the quests on Medieval now.
