So i am now starting to experience a problem with my generations ep. Every few minutes it will freeze/lag for about 15-30 seconds. Ive cleaned my cache and that did not help. It just started since my one sim was half way through being a teen. I havent done any updates so im not sure what it could be. I just hope I dont have to restart my town.

I got Generations last night and installed it. I couldn't play because it was late but I've been playing today. I love the new stuff in that EP but I did notice some lagging and freezing. Prior to this, my game was running a whole lot smoother. I don't have any teens yet... they all grew up before I installed Gen but I do have a couple of babies and children. My load times are still the same but I am experiencing the lag and freeze. Anyone have a fix for this... is it fixable? No I don't have Pets, won't get it, don't want it.... sorry Pet EP lovers :)

I believe that the memories that came with generations can slow down your game a lot. I could not afford that, because my game lags at the slightest provocation, so I use twallan's master controller to disable memories. they weren't as useful as the memories in sims 2 anyway.

If it is the memories, that would explain why it is working ok in a new game - no memories. Because all the sims living in the town accumulate the memories, even if you aren't playing them.

No, not memories for me. Since I've shared all 200 memories at the official site and gotten my goodies, I delete all memories every game session on all my sims so it's not that for me. In several of my worlds, I've gone and switched families to all the native sims and gotten rid of their memories. Actually I was doing that after I installed Generations to see if it was working all right. First one with no CC - vanilla game, then with just EA Store items, then with my full on loaded to the hilt CC game. Yes, I have multiple games - vanilla for building, EA Store CC also for building, Legacy (no cheats) with tons and tons of CC and EA Store stuff and Play (cheats allowed) with tons and tons of CC and EA Store stuff. I'll double check and see specially on my CC games.

I notice mass lag on occasion in my games, but it seems to clear itself up if I continue playing. I'm not sure if it's an in-game process going on, or just a buggy town--I have plenty of both. :P

I think it might have been a buggy town for me. I havnt had a problem since i copied my sims and opened and new town/game. Ive only played that town for a few hours so I will have to see how it goes. How do I delete the memories so I can keep that clean? Do I need a mod for that?

twallan's master controller mod has a setting whereby the memories don't generate in the first place. you can get it here:

http://www.the-isz.com/nraas/index.php

or if the link is deleted by the moderators, there are plenty of comments by twallan on this forum, and his site can be accessed from his signature.

He has done more for sims 3 players than EA themselves (apart from creating the game in the first place)

I just want to say thanks for the link to the twallan mod. It gets to the stage when you're playing that I feel I'm continually clicking on buttons saying 'no, don't save that memory' - it gets really tiresome after a while. And I did found that when I kept the memories my game stopped saving altogether and I had to keep saving every 10 minutes or so. I couldn't see the point of them in the end but I might start making them again if I can get some goodies from the EA store :P

sometimes the huge lag pocket is caused by one or more stuck sims. rather than hunt down those sims <which is sometimes nigh impossible> i use the code resetsim * which resets all the sims in the town.
WEIRD!!!

.... and proud of it!
