Using an older version of Workshop to make objects that don't require the patch?

Apologies if this is addressed somewhere or if I'm posting in the wrong place. Again, I can't find a 'search the forum' anywhere...

I'm thinking of complete newbies to the game who may not patch right away... Is it possible to use one of the older versions of Workshop to create items that don't require the Pets patch if our own game is patched? And does anyone think it's worth the trouble to make 2 versions of everything they create? Thanks in advance for you kind consideration!
Peace,
Holly

Most people will patch since it often brings new stuff, like the latest patch: http://nl.thesims3.c...ches/-532882141
You can however install a older TSRW, alot of creators have.. since stuff created with older versions is often not compatible with the newer ones.
If you decide to install a older version you must install it on a diffrent HD(TSRW checks for older versions and overwrites them.)
You even need to install the older version first, then the latest.

Personally i wouldn't go for 2 versions. ;)
And the patch only has effect on objects with a custom/edited RIG file in it.
As far as i know CASp dont have problems with any patch.

I had already installed both an older and the new version to my external hard drive, but in separate directories, I hope that will work? I haven't created a lot of things since I patched.

But the objects created with the patch and latest Workshop in place are not *backwards* compatible? I hate putting things out that people won't be able to use as soon as they download. Creating objects that require Stuff Packs or Expansions has always been a pet peeve of mine... Maybe it's a peeve I'm going to have to get over... ~sigh~

It does seem a bother to do 2 versions of everything I want to share, but I just don't see any way around it if I don't want to tell folks they have to patch before they can play with my objects...

I mostly wondered if using an older version of Workshop would work at all since my game is patched - that is to say I wondered *if* the Workshop is pulling files from my personal game configuration, it will be cloning patched objects even if I use an older version... Does that make sense?

Thanks so much for the quick and kind response! I appreciate you!
Peace,
Holly

Either people patch their game or they shouldn't use custom content. Regardless what patch it is. :)

And also keep in mind, if your objects are not pets compatible you cannot upload to TSR. TSR is only accepting objects that are pets compatible.

Thanks so much everyone for your time and input! I've pretty much resolved myself to only sharing Pets/patched stuff... Hopefully there won't be any more expansions that mess with the game files as much as this one did...
Thanks again!

Holly
