Just to clarify first: the only way to get any Sim that originates in the college (not the family bin) as NPCs can only "graduate" by being befriended, invited into a playable Sim's lot, and asked to Move In. Is this correct?

Which leads to this next question: is it possible to get a mascot (either the Llama or the Cow) to Move In, and if so, is it possible to change them out of their costume, head and all?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can get the mascot or llama to move in. To change them out of their costumes requires a plan everyday outfit and possibly a hair change.

Okay, I got my Sim back from college (graduated Summa ***** Laude), and moved her back home. When I tried to call the Evil Mascot over--who appears in her relationship panel--he never appeared in the list of Sims that could be called. The only way I could get him to come was to create a Group and call the Group over. Is this the only way to get this sort of NPC (and presumably any other that normally is incommunicado) to come over?

I'm considering inviting most of the College Townies (her fellow students at college) whom my Sim became good friends with to Move In to her family home so that they can become playable AND so that they won't be there when her children go to the same college, but also to add new blood into the neighborhood. With previous Townie Sims that I've moved in, they have vacant family trees and no households. But one of the Sims my college graduate befriended apparently has a household, the sorority. Does that mean she cannot be moved in like the other Townies? Do I have to play--CAN I play--her household and graduate her in order to get her into the neighborhood?

Yep if the npc is in a sorority or in one of the houses they can't move in. I'm not sure what happens to sorority sims upon graduation. I do know that if you play a regular sim in the sorority you play all the sims in the house. Most of the sims I've moved into the house graduated before the sorority sims.

So does that mean I can actually choose to play the sorority/fraternity houses, or can they only be played while one of my playable Sims is a member?

You can choose to play a fraternity or sorority house any time you want.

As for leaving campus, all Sims leave as individuals, whether or not they are part of a household. The on-campus household persists until the last Sim has left campus.

Sorry to keep bringing this thread up.

If I want to have two (or more) Sims leave home to go to college, but they're in different families, can I move one Sim into the dorms, then merge the second and subsequent Sims into the first Sim's "household" and be able to play all of them while they're in the dorms, or would it be--because they're in the dorms--more like playing separate apartments instead, and I'd only be able to choose one Sim at a time to play?

Yes, you can do that. If you merge a Sim into a dorm household, one of the "dormies" will move out.

You can also send teens to college from the neighborhood screen, which will let you put teens from different families into a household.

I put different teens in the same dorm all the time. you play them all like a household. I have four active dorms and I just rotate who gets put where. if you have a lot of teens and they don't all know each other or each other's friends it's a great way for them to meet your other sims and possibly find their perfect mate. when I was playing pleasant view I had 25 sims at uni at one time. so I really didn't want them marrying townies unless they had 3 chemistry and weren't a romance sim. (I don't let romance sims marry, I use them to cause problems. lol)

Okay, so this is slightly related (only not). If I understand correctly, sending Sims to college is sort of similar to sending them on vacation: if the Sims in the household need more than one room (either dorm or hotel), I can assign them to those as long as they do it before any "townie" Sims move in (for that initial household, anyway). Then, if I move other Sims into the dorm--by combining households, I guess (?)--the townie Sim will basically relocate (but still be on campus, right?) and I can move the new addition into a room. Or will all the townies reset until I assign a room and then they will settle in again?

This won't work with apartments in the neighborhood, though, right? That is, if I were to combine a household, they'd still have to fit into the one apartment--they couldn't "evict" whatever non-playable Sim was living there, right? Or is it possible to settle one eight-member household into three or four apartments and pay the rent for all of them?

when sim one moves into the dorms, they get their choice of room in the dorm. one room per student. you just click on the door to "claim room" and that sim's picture will appear on the door. once you claim the door, I personally like to lock the door, which only allows that sim in. (other wise you will have townies in the room on their computer or using your sims stuff) if you move more then one in at the same time, they each pick one room. if at a later time you move some one else in then a townie student moves out and the new sim claims the vacant room.(you don't get to pick their room like when the first sim/sims move in) all money is shared as if it is one house hold and you control all your sims that live in the dorms as one household.

if one of your sims was friends with the one that moves out they are still able to call them. when one of your sims move out leaving a vacant room a townie will move in. I've never really paid much mind to the townies other then to make them clean or if my sim is in need of social. so I don't know if the ones that left come back.

I've never had more then one family in an apartment building before, so I'm not sure how they work. I'm not a big fan of the apartments.
