when use duplicate variation to add vari it also change original that duplicated from too?

Yes this is normal. When you duplicate a variation it will actually duplicate the original. You must change that variation to what you want. Then the first variation would be the original and the second would be the other one.

Using the variation drop down list you will see 2 variations. Select the second one and change it. Now depending on what you are trying to do this will give you 2 variations. IF you are trying to say, make a painting, with 2 different overlays, then you will answer no when WS asks you do you want to replace the file.

OK we are talking about 2 separate things here. Duplicating groups is not duplicating variations and really for the advanced object artist. So exactly what are you trying to do?

You need to change the id/name from the duplicated material.
Make a tiny change to the settings and tsrw will ask if you want to unlink, click yes.
Or change it manually.
