Hi people !

Okay I have a problem since one or two week. I bought the game Sims 3 and it was working great, but then I don't know what I did but when I go on the options window I can't see the Check mark (Accept) or "X" button (Cancel) and I didn't care since today because I just lost my save...

I try to change the resolution on my laptop but it doesn't change a thing. Also I have a TV/Computer Screen that I can use...but it seems that I can get it to work with my laptop now and don't have a clue why because it used to work in the past....

So thank you for the help !

Can you tell us what Video card you have and what System you are running this on? Would be most helpful for someone to help you.

A screenshot of what you're seeing in game would probably help. From what you're saying it sounds like your in game resolution is bigger than your actual laptop resolution. What size is the laptop screen and what size do you have it on atm?

On my laptop my resolution is 1024 x 600 and as for in game it is...800 x 600. Oh and before you suggest it I've already try to match the resolution of the game (witch I could'nt change) and my laptop resolution, but it didn't work.

What happens when you make the game run fullscreen at the same size as your desktop window?

Ok that one is when I'm running same resolution both on the game and in my computer, but not in fullscreen. Also I did try try in fullscrean by doing "fullscreen on" because that is the only way i can switch at fullscreen and it doesn't change a thing.

You can't change the resolution if you are running the game in windowed mode. If you are concerned with the resolution, then you need to be running the game in full screen mode.

Yes you can, I've just done it now. I always play fullscreen windowed and am able to change the resolution whenever I want in either windowed or full screen mode.

You shouldn't need to see the check mark etc, when you make the changes just hitting the enter key should enable them as the default it to approve changes if I remember rightly.

Ran out of editing time. Just checked, hitting enter won't work on the options screen unfortunately. I think you need to check your desktop settings, it sounds like something's gone wrong there. Make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date for starters.

Yeah I tought about that. But it seems that they are up to date. So it's not that. And no, like you said hitting enter doesn't do nothing. The only key of the keyboard that work is Escape wich close the option screen and that it.

That's not the resolution, that's the screen refresh rate and yes, that only works in fullscreen mode because it needs to have the whole screen covered to work :)

Okay, on the actual laptop resolution itself, can you alter the screen placement, it may be that it's slipped too far down towards the bottom margins.

Nop I couldn't do that but I could Center the image, Conserve the proportion and Full Screen but I already try that...
Oh and yesterday I try to uninstall and reinstall the game but didn't work.

I'm running out of alternative suggestions. I can't think of anything else which would cause the effect you've had on the laptop resolution.

There is two thing that I didn't say. So you see...The Sims 3 Launcher also have the resolution problem since I can see most of it, but not the part where it is writen Version. I found a resolution that make me able to see that part, I don't remember wich one it was tought, but I can find it again. But with this resolution the game doesn't fit in my screen in width.

Just to tell you I solve this problem by reparing my desktop computer....but now I have another problem that came up. When I play at sims 3 (I have sims 3, VIP acces and Showtime) I can start a new game...so far I did one in Bridgeport (town from VIP Acces) and one in Starlight Shores (town from Showtime) but as you may know, with VIP acces install I should be able to see the Celebrity journal, but I doesn't...

Oh and just to say...the game that open when I play is Showtime, but I can't open Acces VIP it always opening this one instead.
