For the most part, I've been either attaching my garages to the houses directly or building a separate structure at the end of the driveway not that far from the house. However, since most of my houses end up occupying only the front half of the medium or large lots, is it possible to put multi-car garages (2-car, anyway) at the back of the lot, provided that the driveway extension pieces connect that far back, and each car has its own "stall"?

I'm no expert starknight, and am just voicing an opinion . . . .but I can't see any reason why you should not be able to do this . . .[ Sims don't go to the garage to access their vehicle in any case . . it just miraculously appears on the road when they are going to use it, :D] . . provided you have the requisite number of parking bays [that strange black and yellow bar], there doesn't appear to be anything to prevent you building your garaging at the rear . . or anywhere on the block. If it is a large one, you could consider building room on the second level . . . a granny flat or similar.

If you intend to attach a ground level garage to the rear of your house, and it has a foundation . . then you will need to look up a tutorial on getting them 'squared away' . . .otherwise, I'd say go for it. Good luck. :D

Marcorse... Starknight was asking about The Sims2..where the sims will actually get IN his car, and back up to the street, where he will then continue driving until he reaches the end of the residential(community etc..) lot. :)
Yeah..sims2 is cool like this..lol

I saw some doing this Starknight, but I am not sure how they did though....sowwy :(

Starknight,
I have built several multi car garages in the back of my lot. You do not have to put all the extensions in...otherwise the cars will park on the extensions and driveway rather than in the garage.

When I do this, I will set up each stall in the garage, build the garage around it. Now at street level I will place a "driveway" either with landscape or tiles for the wheels to travel...this is just for esthetics. When the owner drive up the cars wiill "jump" into the stalls inside the garage. I still haven't figured out a way to twist the extensions eventhough I have read the tutorial.

If I get this right. Grandmajam, we have to put a driveway piece at the edge of our lot, like we always do...and then, just some surrounded by the garage building, but no need any driveway extension pieces in between to connect them ?
(somebody should make curved driveway pieces... ^_^ )

Rose,
I actually do not put a driveway in. I just put the extension pieces into the garage. Otherwise my sims will park on the driveway instead of parking in the garage in Sims 2

Grr had it and lost it. I build the garage just like I would any garage. I will not use a driveway just the extensions inside the garage. I'll do a mock driveway otherwise any cars coming into the driveway will park on the driveway.

You both will notice that the car will appear at the front of the house when it drives up but it will not try to turn into the driveway, it will magically appear in the garage. Honestly, with just using the extensions you could even use the moveobjects true cheat and put a garage on the roof it were flat and big enough.
