What are you doing to delete the items? What kind of items are they?

When you are saying to delete, do you mean to uninstall/remove the item from your game? To uninstall from your game a certain item, from your launcher, on the installed content tab, look for the item you want to remove then tick the check box, then hit uninstall at the bottom, then just wait for it to be finished. If you just want to clear you downloads tab on your launcher. On the downloads tab, hit the check boxes of the items you want to delete, then hit delete at the bottom.

If deleting them through the launcher is not working for you, try manually deleting them. Go to your Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Downloads folder and delete the files in there as you would any other file from your computer.

If i delete the file from the downloads folder will it remove it from my game?
i dont want to remove these items from my game i just want them cleared out from the downloads tab in the launcher. Its not causing any problems i just hate that i have to scroll through a bunch of items to find the new ones i need to install. its just in the way.

No, the Downloads folder is a holding folder only, you shouldn't KEEP anything in it once you have installed them. They install into the .ebc and .dbc files inside the DCCache folder with duplicate .package files being created in the DCBackup folder. Take everything out of your Downloads folder and store them somewhere else. Only use it to install new content.

all the sims3pack files in your downloads folder can be safely removed. I put mine in another backup folder in case I need to reinstall them for some reason.
