I have been doing custom painting and they are always over a megabyte. The current one is over two mb. When I look at cc paintings I have downloaded they are under a megabyte. How can I reduce the size of the file/sim3pack ?

Hey there!
Firstly if they are the ones I uploaded then they are only meant for one variation image. The main overlay is huge to be helpful to beginners. If you add 5 variations adding a new overlay to each variation this makes the file large. The texture files are what is inflating the package.
What you can do:
Take the overlay and resize it to 256 x 256 pixels.(If this is one of mine) This will reduce the size of the image. Remember no matter the size each time you add a texture to a variation it adds file size. So if you even take an EA painting and put 10 variations changing the overlay 10 times you have just added 10 images to your project. This inflates the sims3pack.

Hi Riccinumbers
1) I was actually using Jasper321 meshes for this project. They increased the size of either the EA car painting or the rabbit one. I was working with the rabbit one.
2) For this project I am only using one varient of a picture
3) This evening I quickly tested the pic out with cc from your set using RicciNmbrBlankCanvas5-0412 it was still over a megabyte.
4) I'm not all that advanced with this stuff. I know how to export for gimp, basically copy and paste in gimp and import back into TSR Workshop. I do know what the overlay is but I do not know how to successfully change the size. I don't remember the tutorial I read mentioning that. (Through I'm typing this at 21:58, I'm lucking to remember my name or password for that matter).Do I do it in gimp or TSR Workshop? If you can either point me to a tutorial or guide me I will appreciate it.
Also my dds plug in is giving me errors (I still got bloated files with dds) and I've been using png format. What is the best saving settings for png and what import settings do I use in TSR Workshop?
Enjoy the rest of your night.

Sorry it has taken me a long time to get back here. (I didn't get a notification that this had been posted so sorry)
Generally, clones are going to be much bigger than EA anyway. PNG and TIFF do not compress in WS. So if you are replacing the dds files with png or TIFF this can also inflate the size. WS does handle these textures, but I only use dds files and am unfamiliar with the process for using png or TIFF. (Someone using them can explain if they see this)
I don't use GIMP. I would Google for GIMP tutorials. See what's out there.
