How do you know if your Sims 2 game is CD or DVD based?

My dvd/cd drive won't recognise any disks and i am having trouble re-installing the game, due to hard drive issues last week.

PS - the disk drive hasn't worked prior to the hard drive getting corrupted.

Just had a look at my games and it is written in the top corner on the covers where it's labeld PC and then either CD-ROM or DVD. It also has the same written on the disks on the left hand side..
