Hello, just so you know I am sort of new to using tsrw. I am having problems importing a new shoe mesh- I know what the problem is, just not how to fix it. the problem is the new mesh has a different number of vertices than the item I cloned from. My new mesh has 872 vertices, and I've tried several different shoes to clone, none of which have that many vertices. Is there some way to reduce the amount of vertices on the new mesh without sacrificing parts of the model? Or any other solution? Please try to help me if you can.

What format are you using for your mesh -- wso or obj? If you are using the wso format, then you do not need to match the number of vertices of the item cloned. You would only need to match the vertices count if you are using the obj format.

Thank you for replying so quickly! :) I currently have an obj, but I will try to change it to a wso. Is the wso format in milkshape? becuase I tried to find it in the "export" option but it wasn't there.

That is not part of Milkshape as you downloaded it. You need the Milkshape plug-ins that come with TSR Workshop in order to use the wso format. If you look in your Program Files\The Sims Resource\TSR Workshop folder, you will see a folder titled Extras. Look in there for the Milkshape Plug-ins folder. In that folder you will find 2 .dll files -- one for importing and one for exporting. Copy those into your Program Files\Milkshape folder. Now when you use Milkshape you should see TSRW Object listed under Import and Export.

Ok now I'm getting an actual error when trying to import the model. I click import and it asks me if I want to optimize vertex data and update the bounding box automatically. I clicked yes to both, and after loading for a while, I get this error:

And then after clicking to ignore error and continue, I get this error:

After exiting the error message, it force shuts down tsrw.
What is going on??

Did you convert your obj mesh into a wso mesh? If so, how did you do it? How you converted the mesh may be what is causing this error.

I edited my obj in milkshape, and exported it as a wso.

How did you edit the obj file? Unfortunately converting an obj file into a wso file is not as easy as importing the obj and exporting as a wso. The wso file requires bone assignments and all of the body morphs (base, fat, thin, fit, and special), which the obj format does not.

Oh. dangit I don't know how to do any of that stuff. I'll probably have to stick with obj files in that case. thanks for the help!
