I am having a new computer built and hopefully will have it in about a month. I am still researching the components I want and driving the tech crazy. LOL

My question is as follows: I am planning to install the Sims3 on the new computer but want to save all my downloads on a flash drive then transfer that into the game. Also all my saved games. Almost all of my CC was installed via the launcher, I have just a few package files. What folders to I need to save and transfer?

My present computer is not upgradeable. I can't upgrade my processor, my motherboard or my graphics card because of lack of space in the case. And it is older. I have had this computer for a couple of years and I made the mistake of buying a Gateway. Gateway always makes sure the unit you buy can't undergo a total upgrade so it is the last pre-built I will ever buy.

Thank you in advance for any help with my questions.

DCCache,
DCBackup,
Library (if you have any households in the family bin that you want to hang onto),
Mods (for your package files),
Saved Sims (if you have any single sims through CAS that you want to hang onto),
Saved Games (all of your current neighborhoods),
Screenshots.
Permanently Sunset -- closed.
An ending is just another day's beginning.

thanks for that info - I am hopefully getting a new mac soon. and I would like to keep my medieval game. I have copied this information and put it in my backup folder for later reference.

Thank you for your help. I can always count on the nice people here to help me out.

I have spent the last month carefully rebuilding my Sims3 game and would hate to lose any of my progress. I am on medical leave for the next few months and my Sims will help pass the time. Any time wasted on redoing what I have done would break my heart. LOL

The easiest thing to do is to save the whole of the Sims 3 folder found inside the Electronic Arts folder in your User Documents. This is, obviously, a large file so you'd need to have a USB capable of copying the whole folder onto.
