i recently purchased a new computer with windows 7 and when i reinstalled my sims2 games and tried to place the cc again all package files show up as blank sheets of paper. i know that means windows does not know what to do with the files, but neither do i. you know i tried to get the geek squad to help since i have tech support and they messed things up royally...

I'm not sure if I understand the problem. It's normal for package files to show up as blank sheets of paper. All the package files in my TS2 downloads folder are blank sheets of paper. :)

The blank sheet of paper does not mean that Windows does not know what to do with the file. It means that the file does not have a specialized icon given to it by a program on your computer. Sims2pack files have a specialized icon because that is how EA programmed the game. EA did not give package files a specialized icon though, so it gets the generic Windows icon.

Oh! thank you! I thought because on my old computer the packagefiles did have something on them like a little diagram red and blue dots and i was looking for that here as well. i never got a chance to see if it worked i took it straight to the geek squad. and just to be sure im doing it right... is it c:/user/myname/documents/eagames/thesims2/downloads - i had to put my own folder

The diagram with the red and blue dots is the generic icon that Windows XP uses. Microsoft changed the icon with later operating systems, so Windows 7 uses the blank piece of paper instead. And yes, they will go in the C:/User/myname/Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads folder
