Issue with CC
Posted 17 July 2012 - 08:47 AM
I found the main issue to my problem, the game starts lagging when I have over 200 items in my Mods folder which is only around 300mb, I've seen people on the internet having over 4Go of CC with no lags, why can't I?
Is it because one of my CC is bad or isn't working with latest version? I have dashboard, run it and there are no problems or corrupted packages at all.
Little question... If I sacrifice World Adventures will I be able to add more CC to my game? it may sounds silly but I believe it's all about the game's memory, and since I have all EPs they takes a huge amount... I may be wrong though.

What are the basic specs of your PC? (RAM and processor speed, mostly) The Sims 3, being a 32 bit application can only utilize a max of 4gb of RAM. I have the game with four expansions and minimal CC, and in a family with one sim and one cat on a medium lot, it was using just over 1gb of ram to play. (EPs do take up a good chunk of hard drive space, but I don't think they significantly increase RAM usage.) Depending on how much RAM you have in your computer, it can get used up very quickly when you add the 1-2gb (or more) in use by the operating system and any other programs you have open.
To a slightly lesser amount, a small degree of lag could be caused by your hard drive. If your mods folder (or the game's other files) are severely fragmented, brief bits of lag could be caused from the hard drive jumping all over the place as it physically tries to locate files on it's disks. It would have to extremely fragmented though, as even a slow hard drive is still pretty fast.
If the problem is being caused by the files themselves, you may have to get rid of some, or try installing any further content as .sims3pack and see if that also adds to the lag or not.

Thanks for the reply.
Actually I do have both packages and sims3packs in my game, I'd say 50-50.
I do have 5 mods, I have 5 NRaas (Story Prog, Career, Traffic, Overwatch and MC) and AwesomeMod installed.
I must admit some of my packages might be demanding since I do have a couple of cars from Fresh prince Creations which are quite huge (in polygons matter) but since it's a new game, they're not used yet, so it shouldn't matter IN-game.
All of the rest are some houses, skins and clothes mostly.
Finally, I defrag my disks once a month and I clean it every 2-3 weeks, I did both 2 days ago because I also thought it could be it, so everything's clean there.
Here are my specs:

Do you think I might have too many NRaas mods installed? how many do you have?

The problem might just be too many mods (or package files in general). I don't have any mods, so I can't speak from experience here, but from what sheridanhoughton says, have you tried taking out all 6 mods and seeing how your game plays without them? If the game works without lagging at that point, list the mods by order of importance to you and start installing them one by one and testing the game after each, until the game starts to lag again, then you know where to stop

I have read that "Awesome Mod" confilicts with Twallan's mod's ...

Actually I never tried without NRaas mods because they're definitely must-have for me especially Story progression since I don't play with all families only mine and build from there and it's WAY more interesting with this mod.
But I will try to play without Awesome Mod though, since it looks conflicting it might be my problem, if not I will try your way sim_man, and I could live without some of them if my game can finally stop lagging
I'm away from home for today so I will try it tomorrow and let you know guys, again thanks!
