Hi everyone! I need your help.
This question is probably stupid and obvious...
But, how do I back up my specific sims I have created? I don't want them all, just a few select families, since I have to uninstall my game and everything else with it and reinstall.
But, a couple custom sims I made into celebrities ages of morphing and lots of work, so I don't want to lose them.

Also, if anyone could tell me how to create files where people can download the custom sims I have created, that would be amazing! I have lots of friends that are interested in my custom sims, but I have no idea how to make them downloadable for others, and google has been useless.

If you're able to answer any of these two questions, that would be amazing!

Thank you!

P.S. I keep having a problem of certain families, be it some that are premade with the base game itself, or ones I have created, are crashing my game. I've had to uninstall and reinstall five times now. It takes ages, since I have all expansions and stuff packs!

You can save a family on their lot by going to the neighborhood screen and putting your cursor on the lot but don't load the lot. A box will appear. See attached picture. :)

Attached File  savedsims1.jpg   74.04K   11 downloads

Then click on the information icon which is the 'i' in a blue circle and another box will appear. Click on the little icon with the arrow and asterisk and that will package the lot. See attached picture. :)

Attached File  savedsims2.jpg   77.95K   12 downloads

You can find the saved family lot file here: My Documents>EA Games>The Sims 2>PackagedLots

As far as certain families crashing, is it possible that you used custom content on those lots which you since removed?

Thank you!

And no, it's not.
A lot of the time it's families, such as the Pleasants, that I am just trying to play for the first time and then my game crashes. :(

Update:

I uninstalled and reinstalled all my expansions and stuff packs, which took a loooong time, and then started to play again. I played Jessica in Belladonna Cove, but then when I switched to play the Pleasants again in Pleasantview, my game crashed as it was doing before. There was never any cc in that family, nor did I add it since that was my first time attempting to play since I had started the game fresh.

Although I have no idea what is causing your problem, and very much sympathize with your situation, I would like to thank Audrey May for the input about packaging lots/families. I do hope someone can give you a hint as to what is causing your crashes, but I think I would avoid the Pleasants!! BTW, I may be wrong about this, but when I have had to reinstall, I have just uninstalled my last expansion and then reinstalled it. That is why I was glad for the instructions how to package, although I do make sure to save the Sims2 Folder before the uninstall and then reinstall it before loading and playing the newly installed expansion.
