What are EP's and SP's and why do I need to include them in a lot submission?

'EP' stands for Expansion Pack and 'SP' stands for Stuff Pack.  They both add content to the base game.

An expansion pack adds large amounts of objects, hairstyles, clothes, etc. and also is based on a major theme which adds to game play such as World Adventures or Seasons. For example, World Adventures adds new worlds for sims to explore and Seasons adds weather.

Stuff packs are based on small themes such as Outdoor Living Stuff containing things sims can use outdoors like fire pits, fireplaces, grills, etc.  Fast Lane is a stuff pack with a car theme. Stuff packs never contain as many items as an expansion and, while sometimes they have one or two objects that affect gameplay, usually they only contain new clothing, hairstyles and objects.

If a lot is created with objects found in an expansion(s) or stuff pack(s) and someone who does not own that expansion(s) or stuff pack(s) downloads it then the lot will not look the same for them. It will be missing those objects which come with the expansion(s) or stuff pack(s). Depending on how many objects are used from an expansion(s) or stuff pack(s) this may or may not cause a problem for the person downloading them. If only a few objects were used then the lot should work fine but if a large amount of items were used from a specific expansion(s) or stuff pack(s) the lot may not work at all.
