Just a bit more info on the programs that you have already listed.
You may also need to visitor enable (using MenuEditor from Blueprint) some of the objects that you have Downtown, Vacation, Oldtown, or Studiotown enabled (using SimCategorizer from Paladin's Place), if you want your sim to be able to use them there (because your sim is classed as a visitor while they are at those locations).
You can also use SimExplorer from Blueprint to find and delete files that you no longer require.

You may also use IFF Pencil 2 or Script Station to Visitor Enable objects. The Major Plus of Using IP2 is that you can enable actions for pets. They use the kids animations.

In my game it has a huge gap at the top!
Rooke's Nest program seems to be a fix for the "drop\non-drop" problme. Is there a fix or workaround for my sort of problem?

I do a bit of creating. Sims 1 only so far, but hopefully Sims 2 soon. Most proud of my Sims 1 sleeping bag hosted at MegaSims and that Inge used my hospital bed as a base for creating the working hospital.
Constructive criticism is welcome, feel free to PM me :)

If you are usinjg Paint shop Pro (I have Psp 8) all you need to do is to choose a picture of the pattern you want to use. Use the airbrush tool. a box will come up with a picture in a box. Click that open and choose the picture of the texture you opened. Then click OK. The airbrush will airbrush that texture onto the item.
Hope that helps.
