I will post a link to my profile page but if thats not ok just search for my profile. I am new to the forum so not totally understanding of the rules yet. I want to build better lots for every one to enjoy. Please tell me what you think I would love to know. Below is a link and my screen name. Thanks

Hi Katt,
I really like your houses. I can see how your building skills are progressing, and I really like how you're trying and experimenting with different styles. Red Oasis is my favourite so far - great use of a dramatic colour like red set the modern tone for the home. It's been very popular so far. The interior layout is great, and the landscaping is spectacular. I also really like your upcoming Seaside Loft - again, especially the dramatic black exterior colour. Riverstone Manor and Timeless Modern are both excellent too. I love the entrance garden created by the two wings of Riverstone Manor, and I love the art-deco feel of Timeless Modern which is conveyed through the old-style windows and the 'bleached yellow' exterior colour choice - very Miami 1930's. I guess I really like your modern builds best because you know how to set the tone with a dramatic exterior colour to accent the graphic elements of modern architecture. I'm not sure if any of this helps, but I really think you're heading in the right direction. One thing that I always try to do with each build is to somehow, somewhere on the lot, raise the bar a bit higher than the previous lot, and I can really see how you work with that as well. The other thing I do is that I don't complete a house I don't like. It shows through that you really like the houses you build. I think the best advice is to build lots you love rather than to try and build lots that you think might be popular. I just think it's so cool that we're able to create these little virtual works of art that we can share with other people, and that they can actually use and enjoy them. Stay true to what you love, keep challenging yourself. You may not have everyone downloading your lots, but the right people will be downloading them. Cheers, Paul Qube Design

why the sad face? Your lots are good!
Youre building in different styles (all of them successfully) to suit different households and they all look good and seem like they would function well. Lots of people are downloading them too! The only thing I could think of is you could be a little more adventurous with the interior, using different colours and patterns. Your already doing that with the exterior. But thats just me, I like bold designs ![]() EDIT: ^pauls right, keep challenging yourself. Experiment. Figure out something you want to try (anything really, a layout, style or something specific like the shape and size of a bay window) and try it. Event if it doesnt work out, odds are you'll use something from it in a future lot. |

Nothing wrong with your lots. You're a good builder. I can't make some of those lots that you have there. I take forever to build a house because I'm not a very good builder and once I do, I agonize of landscaping because I'm rubbish at that
To each their own. Paul and Kiwi are expert builders so they know what they're talking about I'm just in awe of anyone who can build/create/mod and I love looking at their stuff to get ideas and hopefully make it work for me.

There is nothing wrong with your lots. You're improving more as you get used of making houses.
The advice I can give you is getting a better screenshot of your lots (this is actually my problem). As much as I turn my view to get a nice picture, I still think it's not as attractive as it is in game. If you check on my creations, my exterior is not as 'eye catching' as the others, but I'm proud to show you the interior, since this is really my forte. Keep up the good work and Happy Simmin'. Sad face is not what fits you, you should smile and be proud.

Thanks again to everyone I am starting to feel a lot better and really appreciate all the feedback. I do get frustrated when I feel like I am getting nowhere but I think I am headed in the right direction or at least I hope so.

I like your houses Katt, some of them more than others of course, but it is funny to see how you try to follow very different styles straight to the detail.
I also think, that one can tell that you are getting more and more experienced. Well, I donīt know. That of course could be imagination? |

Hi Katt!
Oh I didnīt realize that, it just looked quite narrow to me. And by the way I would like to apologize for my previous answer. I really didnīt mean to make it sound as if I doubt that you are getting more and more experienced, and as I look at it now, it could seem that way. No, what I meant was just that maybe you hadnīt put your lots down in number of when you had made them, some probably need more finish than others. So really, I didnīt intend to be rude, if you read it like that. Sorry. As you can see, english is not my mothers tongue, so sometimes I make unfortunate mistakes |

That is a very good way of dealing with this international forum!
I appreciate a lot your opinion about building around your sims. It is really so dissapointing to download something that looks ever so nice and then doesnīt work properly, so I wish every creator would keep that in mind! |

I like your lots and like that you are trying many different things and not just doing the same thing over and over. It looks like you are having fun trying new things and that is the most important thing. They look good to me.
![]() Also, photos do make a big difference. I did a photo that I like but nobody else does, and one lot that I did which is actually a pretty cute lot IMO, is being heartily ignored. I should have taken a better/different preview pic.

My advice would be to take a picture at an angle that best for showcasing the home. Sometimes a side angled view, as opposed to a frontal view may make the home more eyecatching. Also, don't limit yourself to any one particular time of day (for lighting purposes). Sometimes depending on the type of home, it might look more appealing at sunrise, sunset...etc. I am by no means a master photographer, but I do hope these tips help.
