The Far Far Away Project: A whole new TownUsing the new World Builder tool (released in December - I can't wait!) I'm going to be creating a whole new town from scratch: Far Far Away. It'll be a on a medieval fairytale theme: With all the characters from many traditional fairytales. I'm trying to keep disney influence out though. It;s going to be in a similar style to that of the Far Far Away of Shrek 2 - I'm getting alot of inspiration from there.
I would love it if various people would like to help with the creation of the town - ie. creating lots, sims etc, but ATM I need to get ideas. Here is a list of what I've thought of already: Families Cinderella (Neat & Handy Traits) Sleeping Beauty (Heavy Sleeper trait )Snow White Rapunzel Royal Family Aladdin Goldilocks Little Red Riding Hood Grandma Riding Hood Woodcutter The 7 Dwarfs Fairy Godmother Jack (and the beanstalk) The Ugly Stepsisters An Evil Witch Rumpelstiltskin Plus about 10 more generic families, including a few princes for the princess's to marry. Location's (other than homes & shops) Fairy Lawns Park (Central Park) Rapunzel's Tower Shoemaker's Shop Grandma's Cottage (actually down a path in the middle of woods )3 Little pigs houses Pinochios Caravan 7 Dwarfs' Caverns Thumbalina's Pond Rumpelstiltskin's Shack (In the middle of some fields) Farmhouse Troll Bridge Drury Lane Far Far Away Sign (like Hollywood sign) FFA Walk of Fame The castle will be made much more grand that the rest of the town with the various collections of gold and gems in vaults below the castle. I have already collected lots of gold & gems to put in there (including 155 Gold Ingots! See the attached picture!). The basic layout of the map will be the castle on top of the hill, with windy road leading down to town. In town is all shops, park etc. There is also a seperate section: the village where there are many of the Locations (second list) are. I started to draw a map so I'll upload that soon. I've already started trying to work out how I'm going to work the rabbit holes in, as they are not the style building I want. Please, post your comments, ideas, criticisms etc! I would love to hear about other characters you want included, places I need to add to the list etc. Also what should I name all the shops? I've thought of Jack's Beans & Groceries already.... |

It sounds incredibly ambitious and I'm really looking forward to seeing how it all works out for you. The vault sounds like a fantastic idea. I would never have the patience to do anything close to this and I'm sending you nothing but props for wanting to undertake such a thing

With the tomb making tool you can also create adventures in your world ..... perhaps a secret stash of goodies in the castle dungeons, or an adventure in aladdins cave etc. I look forward to seeing what you come up with! Hopefully TSR will be able to host the large files these new tools will create!

As far as the rabbitholes go, I know Daisylee was burying some of them to make them less obvious. I tried buidling round one once, I think it was the spa, but it didn't work - may have been that I couldn't build high enough!
With the new basement tool, though, that may be something to look at for them!

Ooh midnight - Aladin's Cave! I never though of that! I was going to do the Dwarfs' caverns in the side of the cliffs, with lots of gems hidden there. And Moza, I was thinking about double shells but I just thought it wouldn't be very playable. As well as this neigbourhood looking beautiful I want it to be really good to play as well.

Have made a basic version of the 'Far Far Away' Sign. Couldnt fit 2 Far's on so it had to just say Far Away. When I build the world I will put 2 lots next to each other for it though. Please everyone tell me your ideas!

I'm trying to stay away from group projects so I can play and build at my leisure instead of "having" to get something done, but I'll certainly enjoy seeing what this project brings!
Great idea! If I see anything that might fit into your Far Far Away Land as I wander around the 'net I'll let you know! Don't forget to make a yellow brick road! Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my! Kat |

Thanks Midnight I was quite please with how it turned out. And making the castle will be a big challenge with the five level limit...Kat - yes! Yellow brick road! I will make a mini one in one of the mansions, and someone called Dorothy could live there! Does anybody know what Dorothy's second name is? |

Well... this sounds interesting. I'm looking forward to some pics. I don't get involved with group projects myself... but I love looking at the pictures. Daisylee's got a couple of them in Sims 2 and I think Sims 3. Good luck to everyone!!
~~brings out her lounge chair, umbrella and cooler and settles in to watch the building~~

Ali Baba and the 40 thieves. Beauty and the Beast (you could pop that cave section witht he glowing eyes as the beast!) The emperor's new clothes (an inappropriate sim!)The frog prince (since there will be frog in the new EP) Hansel and Gretel (and the gingerbread house). Personally I think with what you have in the first post will keep you going until the 10th EP! LOL

I just started a gingerbread house! It'll make a great starter home - only £11,000 so far and I have almost furnished it! Any ideas with what I can do to the exterior to make it look more 'gingerbread house esque'?

I think with the new EP you can change the colour of fences and stairs ....... perhaps change the hedge fence a white colour for a lolly look? Your home seems to have something floating above the chimney.....

Try using the scalloped wall pattern, it would look more like vanilla wafers were used.
Nobody said life would be a picnic, but that doesn't mean we can't have one!
