How to create a RGBA Stencil Mask(non-recolorable section) for a patternHi! What I am asking is this
please forgive me if I don't use the correct terminology , I am a newb)I was wondering if there was a way to create a RGBA Stencil Mask for a pattern? For instance, say I am making a pattern and I have the 4 colorable channels set, can I specify and area in the pattern that has set colors that never change? For instance, like some of the clothing items have stencils on them in CAS that do not change. Can this be done? |

![]() I've attached 2 screenshots to help explain what I mean. I have found the only way I've had this happen is when I'm making a pattern with 5 colors. Like the first shot which is my Koala. I needed to add pink to it's ears and cheeks but I had already used my 4 channels so I masked those parts and added them to the red channel which I alway use as my background color with texture if wanted, and then inverted it. You can see what I mean in the second screenshot of my channels. Then in WS I set my background color the to the pink and the red channel of course to my background color. So, in game the pink/background color stays pink. It doesn't change. So bottom line is, try putting the section your don't want to be changed in the red channel and invert it and set your background color to your desired color. I hope this helped you and didn't confuse you. If I did let me know and I'll try to find someone who can answer in a more logical or technical way ![]() Good Luck! ~Robin My Creations

Thank you! Thanks Robin! I Think I got it
! What I'd really like is to have a piece of the pattern that is completely unchangeable. Like instead of the Koala's cheeks the whole Koala. I don't think it can be done at this time.It would be helpful if say for instance someone were making Tinkerbell wallpaper and didn't want Tinkerbell to be recolored. Or if they had a very intricate pattern with way to many colors to channel. I found where someone had posted a similar question and Cedric was saying that it should be possible in the near future.http://forums.thesimsresource.com/sh...d.php?t=376463Yay! BTW, I love your custom painting tutorial. Very nice work ! |

Okay, now my question! Does this mean that the pattern I was trying to make won't work? I was trying to make a
Peter Rabbit pattern and finally got it to work as far as tiling but when I do the rest it comes out black and white in game. I see, Robin, with your koala, he is broken up in to different places in the mask. Like ahundley, I don't want him to be recolored and keep him on a white background. |
