I will probably do the same as I did with TS2, and play a completely clean install for a day or two to try out. If there's any sims with the game, use them.

Then, once I know what I can do, I'll start taking my own families on holiday!

I hear you Moza. Except I'll get hubby to play it first and I'll watch because he's the kind of player that has to do everything all at once and test the outer limits to find out all he can do. After that, I'll go play the game my way and pass on the stuff I didn't like

I have a teen in my legacy, generation 7, who I like a lot. I think she may be just the right person to start the adventures. And I totally agree that the Siims do not have enough to do now, so all these new activities will be great!

I also like the idea of having Sims "retire" abroad. I can have some have vacation homes there, and then just send them home every now and then to visit the relatives in the main hoods! They can stay at home abroad for 2 weeks and then stay in the main hood for 2 days, and then head back to the home in China, or wherever!

It's unlikely EA are going to patch in content to the base game as they know they get better returns from publishing expansions.

From your example, only the pianos came with the Sims 2 base game, half walls and pets were both via an expansion
My point is they have done it all before they could have included it with The Sims 3 base game...its just an excuse for extra revenue Cadiva. Im ok with EA making money but this version of the sims really has made me angry with the lack of items etc. (I have been playing the Sims since 1999) My point was I wish they could have put out a better base game before they started out with expansions. No point in trying to change my view on this.

you know that it's really annoying having nothing to do in the basegame beyond what I already know. Remember everyone, when we were all so excited that ts3 was going to come out & were promising ourselves that we would be first in line @ the checkout counter, & now we don't even play it, because it's so old! How Ironic ! What I just hope is that this expansion won't be as much of a let-down as the base game.

Most of us are not disappointed in the base game and most of us our looking forward to WA which is to be a huge EP. If folks want to get it, they will, and those who don't want it don't have to get it.

I am looking forward to it!

Hear, hear! I love the base game and the more I read about WA the more excited I get. Forget waiting for Christmas (my original plan), I want it now ... counting the days to go ...

I have no intention of trying to change your view on it, it's your opinion which you're entitled to. I was simply pointing out that the things you mentioned weren't, with the exception of the piano, in the Sims 2 base game. Plus, as was mentioned when you brought this up before, there are no less things in the Sims 3 base game than there were in the Sims 2 base game (minus the piano and one hot tub).

People perhaps need to stop thinking that Sims 3 is a follow on from Sims 2, it isn't. It's a completely new game, the game engine is totally different, the way it actually works/saves information and the gameplay is different.
It may not even be possible in this new game engine to do some of the things that were in Sims 2 for example the weather. How do we know that is going to be possible in Sims 3 given that it's a seamless neighbourhood and not just one house having to be effected by weather?

It's certainly not as straight forward or as simple to say oh this was in Sims 2 so it should be in Sims 3 base game. Most of the stuff that eventually ended up in Sims 1 wasn't in the Sims 2 base game either. Perhaps if they'd called it The Sims Neighbourhoods rather than Sims 3, the argument about what should or shouldn't be in the game wouldn't have been an issue because people would treat it as it is, an independent game.

I play it most days, there's still plenty of things I haven't done, I've not reached the top in all the careers, I've not bought out stores, I've not got a fully maxed in all skills Sim etc.
I don't find it boring at all.

I totally agree with Cadiva. If people would stop seeing TS3 as a continuation of TS2 they would stop comparing them. It's a totally new game. Because of that the creators had to start from scratch, therefore so did we as players. If you don't like TS3 then go back to playing TS2 and wait until more EPs have been released to start playing again. I think if I were in charge at EA I would name the next sims game something else instead of Sims 4.

Sims4!!!!

I think I will be kept busy with this game a long time, and I know will be busy trying the world builder, and back on topic, I know I will be trying to build all sorts of adventures and fab lots with dive pools and so on.

I am just blown away by the pics I have seen of China especially, and think this new EP is going to be wonderful. I have not studied the tomb building details thoroughly yet as I want to play quite a bit before getting into that, but I think this is going to be fun, fun, fun!

I cannot hardly wait either. It is going to really let us harry potter fans create some fun adventures for our characters. Better than we could ever do in sims 1 or 2. Plus with the world builder woohoo. Uh I mean yeah not um you know uh wahoo uh oh boy um how deep in the hole am I now? And not bored with sims 3 base game. Having still figuring out how to do everything and making new stuff for fun. Will the workshop have to be updated for WA and/or the world builder? Hope that is still on topic. Has anyone thought about the cash register in WA. Will we be able to use it to make our own stores in base nhoods or just in adventures? Soooo exited! Just 13 more days, less than 2 weeks, right.

I decided to forgoe driving for between now and the 25th when I get paid. my budget is tight, and I have 150 bucks to pay for my mid month bills and emergency gas and food. if I dont drive, I don't burn through gas, and I can get the game when it comes out instead of waiting for payday.

Well, cadiva, I , and I think that many other simmers here will agree, think that it's getting boring for us. I mean, you are a perfect example of a simmer who is still fulfilled by playing TS3. A lot of us are a bit depressed that there isn't too much to do if you have done nearly all of the stuff in the game , & in my opinion, you can do that, & it only takes about a month to do 4/5 of the stuff. Well, now that I know that it's still very fun for you, I feel happy that it's still entertaining some .

I mean, come on, people... we are civilized, right?, So shouldn't we stop brooding about how; "the sims 3 base game should have more stuff in it", & "How TS3 is becoming an RPG game".
We're all united by one thing that keeps us going, the sims series, I mean, most of you are brooding about how "EA is ripping us off", but, if EA weren't here, we would be bored out of our wits, we'd probably be sitting on the sidewalk, kicking pebbles around the street! Plus, I think that we are ripping ourselves off if we buy the game & think it's too expensive-I mean, EA's not forcing us against our wills to buy the game-we choose to, & if you think that...Wait, hold on a sec... wasn't this a post to help stop some of the arguing on this thread!?! Well, anyway-STOP ARGUING!

I can see how people would be a little bored with the base game by now. I am definitely ready for an EP. It helps to take it slowly and not discover everything within the first few weeks of playing. Many are eager to explore all the new features of a game. Some people have more time than others and they'll find everything sooner. What I find most fun is just playing at my own pace and approaching the game with an open mind. If I do not have specific expectations I won't be disappointed. It's fun to look at preview pics and read reviews, but at some point I would like to find things out for myself. It seems like we've waited so long, but this is a shorter wait than the 6 months between expansions we usually have.

basegames always bore you this much in. I got bored of thesims2 around this many months after release. Not bored this time, but with my classes, I dont have alot of time to explore everything *havent booted up sims3 in a month due to studying for midterms.*

but that is just how it goes. There is little EA can do other than rush expansions out, which isnt really a good thing.

I agree babajayne. I love discovering the stuff slowly. Even with sims 2, 5 years after I got the game, I was still discovering new things!

who wonders how modders will expand the tomb building options with modded objects? I suspect that what EA gives us in the tomb building area is only the tip of the iceberg.

I've been playing it since it came out and am not bored by it yet, even if I decide not to play an actual game with a sim, I love just creating them haha. Endless possibilites!

How Ironic ! What I just hope is that this expansion won't be as much of a let-down as the base game.
Who has stopped playing???? I am still playing almost every day. There is a lot of things I have not done in my game that I am still doing. The one thing I do like about The Sims3 is that I can play another complete game and get the characters that I have not played yet like Bella and Mortimer without having to reinstall the game.
