Meadow Lawns - needs OFBFed up with playing the same old sims and lots? Here's something new.
Meadow Lawns is a pretty sleepy place - or it was until the army set up a base and a property boom started. Adam Jackman moved in to cash in on the property boom and started a business empire. He and his family have created a lot of local employment and some young families have moved in. What is going to happen to the elderly residents who were looking forward to pets, gardens and fishing in their old age, to the Jackman dynasty and their empire, to the young families, to the kids in the Foster home or to the squaddies and their boss would-be-general Phil Green? It's your choice! Download and play! You can read the neighbourhood story here http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/stor...sset_id=170707 and if you like it visit my Hard luck sims webpage to see more pics and download the whole 'hood. [mod edit - link removed] What more can I tell you about it to whet your appetite? 1. Meadow Lawns is a 100MB RAR file - don't touch it if you have a slow internet connection - that's big! 2. OFB is required - there are lots of businesses in the 'hood - will work with any combination of EPs 3. Maxis Mustang and driveway required (or Nightlife + mustang) - The Jackmans own mustangs and sell cars. 4. Maxis downloads desirable - I've used quite a lot of the deco - that will just disappear if you don't have the downloads. (halloween cat, football pennants, race car lamps, christmas deco + maybe more) Mod: As per TSR's forum charter, please do not post direct links to sites that do not meet TSR's adult sites policy. |

I'm very sorry about the link. My stuff is totally separate on the MATY server - you can't get to the hacks or anything from the link I gave. I put it on their server because they have space and it's too big to fit on my own website. Anyway, it didn't occur to me that you wouldn't like the link. Sorry again.
Anyway, I can't find Meadow Lawns with google, so for anyone interested in trying Meadow Lawns, please check out the neighbourhood story on my simpage http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/stor...sset_id=170707 If you like it, the link to Meadow Lawns is given in my blog. I wish I'd put Meadow Lawns in the thread title now. Maybe we could delete this whole thread and I'll write a new post just linking to my simpage. Would that be OK? You'd be welcome to host it on TSR - but I don't suppose you want a 100MB RAR available for download! |

Cwykes, this is a very interesting neighborhood. Thank you for the download. Is there anyway to play the households in the secret base? I can see them when I press tab, but I don't know how to get there to play.

I didn't mean it to be that secret! although that would have been a pretty clever thing to do now you mention it. I think the problem is that the base is on the edge of the map and I have a camera mod in my game that lets me see and use all the neighbourhood rather than just the middle which is the default set-up. All the camera mod does is edit the little txt file about the neighbourhood camera. The mod has been around for a long time and it's safe.
I don't think I dare put a direct link in after the earlier problems. It's on modthesims2 - downloads, game modifications, config will get you a selection of mods. Gunmod's is the one I use. If you put gunmod camera fix into google you'll get to it right away download the file and take out the file called NeighborhoodCamera.txt navigate to C:\....\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Cameras change the file extension of the one that is there if you want to keep it just in case. I'd make it NeighborhoodCamera.backup - you'll get a message saying that makes it unusable - Good - that was the point of renaming it! put gunmod's file in that folder instead Next time you play, you should be able to get to the base. I had a lot of fun setting up that lot, so I hope you do too! I left the commander with a budget for extending the base - his album tells you what he had in mind - officer's living quarters were certainly in there so he didn't have to bunk with the guys! If you find he's short of cash, check out what the squaddies have in their inventories. They seem to think the army money is theirs for the taking and I used to laugh to see them around the neighbourhood shopping till they dropped. If he needs more, motherlode them - the government is paying the bills after all.... |

I played the characters in the "secret area" yesterday by putting a lot and a cas sim right on the border of the area I could get to. Then I entered the household of the cas sim, expanded the range that I could see in the neighborhood(in the defaults panel) and then clicked on the neighbor houses and selected them to play. I played the lot that had 4 adults (the mom was really ugly) and 3 toddlers. I got two of the adults to permanent platinum, and the other two were close to plat, and I sent the three children who now had almost all skills maxed to college.
I hope you don't mind, but I also went through the entire neighborhood with agesimscheat and changed the elders to adults. I don't mind playing elders once they have lived their lives, but there is nothing sadder to me than an elder with no chance of living a "normal" sim life. And there were like a hundred million of them I really am enjoying going through this neighborhood. You did a lot of work on it. Tansy |

I knew not everyone would like the elders so I'm glad you got a solution. I quite like elders because they are a challenge to keep happy and they have plenty of time at home because they don't have to work long hours like normal sims. I find they can earn quite a lot of money in retail just like real elders in fact. A few of mine are permaplat already and I think you should be able to get most of them permaplat from the non-career wants. Getting an elderly romance sim permaplat from a 20 loves at once would be fun! Now I've installed Seasons, I'm looking forward to having them garden and fish!
Well done with the Staines family! Getting the kids to grow up well would be enough of a challenge for most people in that tiny camp house! Have you tried any of the Jackmans? I think you should check out the 'hood camera mod anyway. It's just adjusting the settings of the camera, nothing to do with the game itself and it's useful to get around all your neighbourhoods. |

Lol, could anything more be broken at the Jackmans? I did send the teen (is it Philip?.. I am at work now) to college along with the Green teenager. I built my own college area, which is a first for me. Just a few dorms and a general community lot and a secret society. I moved Grandma Green back in to take care of the children and babies. I moved the Green father out of the base and into the house that his wife lived in (by the base). I played the foster house, having all the teens quit their jobs, learn how to study, and got them into private school. The adult lady in the foster home has been dating one of the army base guys. I also have played with the house that had the elderly couple with the 6 elder and adult sons.
I will check out the camera mode. It sounds like it may make things easier. Thanks again for an interesting neighborhood. Tansy |

Yes tansy111 - I made all the townies myself. There are some tutorials and tools on the site I can't link to that stop the same old maxis townies being generated in every new 'hood and let you turn normal sims into townies.

The best way to get to Meadow Lawns without a direct link is to visit my old website
http://users.telenet.be/hardlucksims/ I've put a link to Meadow Lawns on the front page. Click on that and it will take you to the area of the moreawesomethanyou server where cwykes files are. You won't find it by going to that site unless you search in Peasantry for the thread about Meadow Lawns. It's not part of that site, I'm just using server space. So visiting MEadow Lawns won't get you near any "adult" content. You won't find my pages with google either as google takes you to the MATY home page. Hope this is good for you Cadiva. If so, pretty please can we edit the first post so this link is there? |

There are a couple of stories on the exchange by Charlotte, who really went to town with the Green family. I'd love to see what you do with Meadow Lawns if anyone is game to upload a story or two.
My original back story about the Greens are here http://thesims2.ea.com/mysimpage/upl...set_type=story Charlottes are here http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/stor...sset_id=175407 http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/stor...ser_id=2513480 http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/stor...ser_id=2513480 |
